Not sure about Pennsylvania. But in California there are consumer laws that do have penalties for bait and switch. I would follow up with your DAs office.

This sounds like a silly length to go to, just because someone didn't get a certain bottle of rareish beer. There's always fine print, in the small chance there is any written promise of product. While it's unfortunate and it does appear that the bottle shop was at fault (totally feel for the dude), unless there is a pattern of this type of disingenuous/predatory advertising for this bottle shop, a person would have to be seriously motivated to see such an action through, given the time/effort and finite chance of "success."

Not being lied to is 1 of the only things I expect from a retailer. If their were exclusions, so be it, but those laws are in place for a reason, and you pay for their enforcement with your tax dollars. Use them.

Meh, it is what it is. The problem is, they originally didn't say that they were going to have Rare at the location I was at but I was able to get someone from the store to admit that "surprise beer" whcih they mentioned in the FB postwas in face a case of Rare. It wasn't until an hour or two before they opened that the guy came out of the store saying they had a case of rare. They actually did advertise the 12 bottles at the other location which is why I assume they felt that they had to hook those guys up. I was pissed but I'm over it.

I wish more stores adopted your behavior.

I would review that store on Yelp (and here!) and chalk it up to experience. Oh, and never give them another friggin' penny.

Apparently some places do. Chris at Beer geek nation constantly has beers shipped according to him and he lives in Harrisburg.

I would probably give them another chance, but scold them politely with a smile on your face so they get the message. Also, hit up a buddy and see if he/she has a bottle or two they can spare.

In the 25 mile trip home I would have already made up my mind.
Unless, I got everything else I was hoping to find other than the Bourbon County and still thought the ride was worth it.
If I left with nothing but my bad experience to think over for 25 miles, I wouldn't be going back.
