I wasn't saying that...I'm all for innovation and Craft breweries doing new and exciting things. I was only commenting on the initial article where Jim Koch was hailing this as some new idea. Granted they're doing it as a year around, but Stone does their Enjoy By often (although it's not always outside of California).

I see what you're getting at. But I feel like a lot of what surfaces on this site, that is said in by Koch, gets taken out of context a bit, blown out of proportion, and most of all taken too seriously. I'm really not trying to defend the guy by any means, and sure public image is important. But given how much people talk of him being a drunken bumbling fool, you'd think much of his antics would be taken more with a grain of salt. I kind of see him as a merry prankster/ light-hearted troll of the craft beer industry. As far as I'm concerned, him making the IPA commentary, then eventually coming out with this line of IPAs is a ha-ha on us. Plus he has the time & money.

Seriously. Greg Koch can call horseshit all he wants, I doubt Jim koch can be bothered to care while he makes tons of money on his late comer minute IPAs.

Word on the street is that this is shipping this week and should be on the shelves soon.

I just had a flash of drunk beer geek inspiration and I don't know a better place to say it.

Instead of "keep cold; drink now" or some permutation thereof, raw-style IPA and DIPA cans should say "If I'm not in a fridge, DON'T BUY ME!" I think that might get the attention of stores and distributors a little better.

All SA feelings aside, I am excited to try this. I for one would love an easily accessible raw IIPA.

Have the "select markets" been announced yet? I haven't seen anything.

What are your thoughts on the beer you drank?

    Cheers!

This is quite simply one of Sam Adams' best beers ever. And, I'm not a SA hater. I was actually kinda floored at how good it smelled as soon as I opened it and the color and taste were both impressive. Well done, SA.

Also, clearly states to drink within 35 days. Canned on date (11/29) was on the box and a best by date (1/5) was on the bottom of the can. I liked that too.

Couple of these just showed up on my desk at the office for samples. Looks like they are giving the cans about a month before hitting the Drink By date on the bottom (this batch says to drink before 01/05/16) . At least they're pushing that correctly. Going to crack these tomorrow night, probably. Hopefully I'm into them.

Brewed with Polaris, Galaxy, Amarillo, Zeus, Centennial, and Cascade.

Distro will be limited to Philly, Boston, NYC, DC, and Chicago for this first batch in 4 packs of pint cans.

It would be interested if somebody did a side by side of this with Heady Topper (blind of course, to not get biased against sam adams) and post thr results

    From Sam Adams:
So after all the hullabaloo this thing is just a one shot deal being sent to five cities. If I had known this months ago I could have saved myself some time by ignoring this.

Is this for real?? I'm pretty bummed if that's the case.

It would seem so. Here's a link to the presser posted at Mybeerbuzz.

Welp. Guess I'll get unfiltered enjoy by instead. By all accounts rebel raw isn't even up to par with the best NE DIPAs anyways and they can't even do multiple batches? Wtf?

That sucks. Was hearing from local shops we'd be getting it by the beginning of next year at the latest.

Could this possibly just be a test to see how it gets received? Then if people enjoy it they'll release it on a national level? Just getting my hopes up here I suppose.

All I can tell you is what I read and Rebel Raw Double IPA was described as a "one-time, limited release with a 35 day shelf life."

Stop with the sample pics. No one cares about driving hype.
