Voted by the readers over the last few weeks.
Nothing real exciting fr a beer geek but for the general public not that bad.
Of course the poll was easily cheated on as usual.

I thought that some of the beers that were left out of the voting seemed a bit strange. How come there were no beers from The Commons or Upright in the Belgian category? And in the German beer category, they only had the Kölsch on the Dunkel (which is only available on draft) from Occidental. What about their Alt or Doppelbock?

Yeah..but this is beers chosen by Oregonian journalists..need to get out more.

A better question is why was the Belgian category littered with things like Boneyard Bone a Fide and Deschutes Mirror Pond? There were only 7 "Belgian style" beers in the list of 20 finalists...

    :astonished:

I think this confusion abut what is a "Belgian style" also effects the general public..journalists included.
Again this was a poll for the general public not folks like us,

Sounds more like confused general public. From one of the Oregonian staff "These 20 beers received the most nominations from our readers in the Belgian category in our mega-survey."

I thought their top-50 was actually very solid. A thousand times worse, this list was chosen by the Oregonian readers. Eesh.

I've commented on most of them. Sorry everyone. :flushed:

Also to no surprise, I despise the comments on the stout voting especially. There are few people I hate worse than the dorks that equate dark beers with some form of masculinity, worst of all the "I only drink Guinness" knobs.

For the O-live readers, this could have gone a lot worse.
