I've recently heard that there may be a second, smaller batch bottling of Stille Nacth Reserva 2008. It was bottled in different champagne-style bottles and included some additional wild yeast strains to add a more sour note. Has anyone from Belgium heard of this? I am not asking about the 75cl original bottling of SNR'08, but instead a possible special bottling. It would be very great for me to have some additional information about this! Thank you in advance for any help!
Hi, Don't think SN Reserva 2008 exists. You most probably mean the new Stille Nacht reserva 2009, which will be ready at the end of this year. That's the third release after the SN reserva 2000 (75cl) and the SN reserva 2005 (33cl). The third release, brewed in 2009 will be 75cl bottled. Just normal 75cl bottles though. Cheers, Filip

Hmm... Kris confirmed me that the next release is officially the "third" release. Look at this picture: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7269/7412244290_c152de53ff_o.jpg That label sure doesn't look genuine to me. Hand cut, and seems like someone has made a scan and enlarged it with a very unprofessional RESERVA stamp. Is this real ?????????????????????????????????? I wonder how much money they asked for that bottle ? Anyway, never seen it here in Belgium. I sure will inform Kris about this HOAX. Cheers, Filip
It's real for sure , I had a few bottles , bought them at the de dolle , Kris gave them to me in person , So yes , SNR 08 dos excist ! Only 450 bottles ,( thats what Kris told me ! ) The explanation for the " reserva " stamp is that hi didn't want to make a new label for only 450 bottles , and it was never ment to be sold , only to drink at de dolle for special occasions
The labels on the bottles I've had are all nice. The one in the BeerAdvocate photo just happened to be the bottle on hand at the time. I can send you a better photo this week if you're curious and no one else is able to post one in the meantime.
Indeed, that should be the exact story. I went to De Dolle Brouwers yesterday, and asked Kris about the mysterious 2008 vintage. See also http://belgianbeerboard.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=88888993&topic=1738.msg8634#msg8634 An experimental probation bottling (pilot) this was, with the intention not to be commercially available. Kris was utterly surprised that some bottles have "escaped" the brewery to the US ???? How could this happen ????? Anyway, all much interesting information though. But to be 100% correct, officially there's only two SN Reserva's released. The third one should be ready at the end of this year. Cheers, Filip
Hi, How did you get hold of that bottle ? Did you buy it, or was it given to you by Kris himself at DDB ? I just hope you didn't buy it at the black "beer"market Cheers, Filip
Oo yes , to answer your question about the oerbier reserva 2008 75 cl , thats not difficult to drink , Just go to Brussels , enter chez moeder lambic fontainas , ask the beermenu and you'll see " oerbier reserva 2008 75 cl " , pay 40€ and drink it , very simpel and very delicious , right ?
Thanks Flip, that is good information on the release. No, I did not buy my bottle of SNR'08 from the beer black market, haha. I don't think Kris would be happy about that! I traded for the bottle. A few friends and I then had a De Dolle tasting in January 2012, where we only had old De Dolle bottles. It was a lot of fun! From what beerpirates said, I've heard that there have been special bottles of Oerbier Reserva 75cl as well, I've seen a photo, but I've never actually seen a bottle.
I have a bottle of this. It is a 750-mL bottle and clearly marked 2008. I was given this bottle as a gift while in Belgium and was told it was "extra special reserva".
To clarify my previous post, what I have is the 750 mL bottle as shown in the pic on BA for this beer.
