Did anyone hit up the raffle at Merchant's in Dearborn? How was it?

There was a line out the door at Troy Whole Foods today for a grand total of a case of BCBS... I lol'd, and left. I can't see waiting in a line for one bottle. It's good, but not that good.

You want more? Find someone in TX who wants to trade. Yesterday my sister picked me up a case from one store with no limit in San Antonio. And it's still sitting in a lot of other stores. Good prices too, $9.99-$11 usually. No variants though, TX only got regular and Rare and the Rare is long gone.

Any MI shelf-ish stuff people in TX would be willing to trade for? I'm not trying to "win the trade", but my cellar isn't that extensive, and I hate the idea of trading, for example, my last Kuhnhenn BBBW that I stood in line for 4 hours to get for a beer someone walked down the street and bought by the case off the shelf at Whole Foods.

I have no idea. I only trade with a few friends in different areas of the country.

I went to the Friday BCBS raffle at Merchant's in Dearborn. The store limited one bottle per person and there were maybe 40 people in attendance. I think everybody walked away with a single of regular or some variant depending on how early their number was drawn. I can't recall all of their pricing but it was definitely fair (Rare was $60, I paid under $12 for Coffee).

I just moved to Michigan this year and I was thinking about going.. Is it worth it? I'm guessing getting there by 8 is a must.

Interesting to hear that BCBS is showing up in Meijer stores in the Chicago area. Is anyone anticipating another wave of distribution or stores that might be holding back? I've heard second-hand that some places have said they "might be getting more?" Which I don't really know how to interpret.

In any event, wouldn't mind a PM if folks discover some bottles sitting on shelves. The BCBS is really nice fresh this year. The vanilla notes seem to be more prominent and that tickles my fancy.

I would imagine in West Michigan West Side Beer (I'm assuming they do Bourbon County being that they distribute Goose Island - and quite a few other ABInbev products) held some back and some will still likely hit shelves (SOME...not much). I have a very tough time believing there's much left for distro in Michigan though, being that some of the Spartan stores I deal with only got 6 bottles of regular + 2 bottles of barleywine (and the specific Spartan stores I frequent get some killer shit...see 4 packs of Higher Math just sitting on the shelves...for like $41.00/4 pack).

If anybody here can get me a lead on some BCBCS in West Michigan (and you live local) I'd be willing to throw you a thank you beer or 2 for said lead... None of the stores I've been in saw BCBCS. Let me know!

Clearly, I am not plugged in enough. Meijer has a new twitter follower .

I'm with you. Sips for Tips!

Meijer is a Michigan company and has huge buying power, could they not bring more bourbon county into the state.

Our location here usually gets good releases and has a good purchaser. No BCBS, no nothing. And other states have cases sitting on the floor of random grocery stores.

Because Illinois needs more bourbon county....

I think this is probably a big factor in why it's so limited here. I imagine stores like Meijer sell >75% of the GI product in this state. When they forgo their allocations, a significant percentage of the Bourbon County product that should come to Michigan doesn't, which makes this one of the hardest places to get it, especially when paired with our large craft beer-buying population.

So do some places do releases a week after the initial Black Friday release?
