BCBS Sightings - Chicago

WF Boystown had two cases (12 total) of Rare. Looked like 3 cases of the other varietals.

 

They started selling at 7:15

 

Is West Loop sold out of regular?

 

I probably would have stuck around if they'd told me that. Oh well.

 

I'd trade my BW.

 

Damn. Wish I knew. I had an opportunity to grab a bw and passed. Had I know I would have grabbed it for you.

 

Can confirm no rare at Willowbrook. I got there at ~7:20 and was 20 something in line. First people got in line at some ridiculous hour (before 5). Everything was organized really well, but my goal was to snag a coffee and all that was left for me to pick from was regular and barleywine.

 

Wish wf would go back to the afternoon release, I have a job!

 

Only difference would be a longer line this year. I hate beer.

 

It's cool dude. Some people take vacations, others take vacation days to wait in line for alcohol.

 

if you want to spend 100 bucks, Bockwinkels at 320 E Ohio St had 2 bottles of Rare on the shelf.

 

Streeterville prices. I like it.

 

Interesting. I went last year and the line was already >100 deep around 7am.

 

Why? MSRP is way below where supply meets demand, especially on the variants. There's a reason people are lining up for hours, driving all over the county and cold calling liquor stores.

Potash on State St. had their release at noon today. They had everything except for Rare, but here's the kicker - you were allowed one varietal, and each "case" had 3-4 beers in it. Staff got their hands on the shipment beforehand and took 8-9 of each varietal. I guess being shady doesn't solely mean price gauging.

 

Cardinal Wine and Spirits in Lincoln Square has Rare for the low price of $139.99. I told them i would have to pass... Have at it fellas

 

that's surprising considering i've always felt their prices are often pretty fair....meh, i won't be doing that

 

they were also charging like 25 bucks for BW. I believe all variants were the same price.

 

Any store which lists all their beers as $1 on beermenus is shady & not worth patronizing imo.
