Just shows the amazing,y wide range of taste and preference. Pineapple sculpin also sounds amazing to me. Much more than grapefruit. Love a pineapple IPA

I love VAS but this sounds awful to me.

Are the posts about the quality of GF brewed Alpine beers serious? I didn't have the privilege of drinking Alpine in Ohio previous to the contract brewing but I thought that Duet and (especially) Nelson were two of the better IPAs I've had the pleasure of drinking. I think there's some placebo effect here, coupled with a healthy dose of pretension.

Oh cool, gum-flavored beer. Yeah, I want to be reminded of that pumice paste they use at the dentists office when I'm spending ~10-12 bucks on one bottle.

Everyone was fartin in Rogues face for their Voodoo doughnuts and Sriracha disasters, saying it was all marketing and was terrible and ruining craft beer. But how is this really that much different?

No way. I can only imagine the abortion that must be in that bottle.

Peppermint. Ffs, people. Get it together.

Have never had a mint beer but I can picture it with VaS and it sounds killer. Honestly I may put a couple drops of peppermint extract in my next VaS now to see how it goes.

I wonder if it's purely VaS with peppermint or if they tweaked the recipe, maybe more vanilla or more chocolate malt.

Wrong. Perennial 17 is the bomb.com

If this tastes anything like Stone's Mint Chocolate Stout, I'll be happy

I don't know man. I'd take most of our own IPAs/DIPAs waaaay before anymore "Alpine" stuff. Head Hunter, White Rajah, Columbus IPA, Musk of the Minotaur, Roller Blabe, Hop JuJu, Creeper, Bodhi, Konkey Dong, etc.

Especially in this one. Been waiting for this since i had it last year. Coffee, Vanilla Dark Chocolate and Mint work so well in this beer!

I've had many varietals of VAS and will try this one, but the thought of mint anything in beer is completely unappealing to me.

I agree that we have access to some awesome IPAs in Ohio. Haven't had the chance to try any Hoof Hearted yet but the others you noted are of course incredible brews. I personally thought the Alpine Nelson was top notch and had some similarities to Bodhi, at least when I tried it on draft. The point I was really trying to make is that I thought some of the Alpine beers were unarguably delicious and people get too hung up on how things must automatically be different/worse if there is a production change. I can't speak personally on the quality shift, just that the comments about how they now "suck" seem contrived.

I have only recently tried the regular Victory at Sea for the first time. ( I only bought a single, because I'm tired of buying a 4 or 6 pack only to store it away thinking "someone else might like this stuff...") but I was blown away. Went back to get more, when I encountered REAL FOMO! If I see this, I will be on it!

No thanks! Peppermint (and Spearmint) belong in tea and/or chewing gum.

Theoretically,Mint and Chocolate go well together.
Imperial Stouts/Porters usually have a chocolate profile, so the addition of Mint can work

Mint stouts are fantastic. Pipeworks mint abduction and perennial 17 are really tasty.

How on earth can people not imagine that mint, chocolate, coffee and vanilla would not work well together?

As long as the mint isn't too overdone it could be a good thing.
