It was a lot of fun and eye-opening for several of my friends. My wife & I mixed up the styles so that everyone could find at least a few that they liked. The IPA lovers LOVED the Lagunitas 'Born Yesterday' and the Boulevard/CC collaboration brew. The darker beers were well-received, too. The 3 big favorites of the night were the Born Yesterday, Death By Coconut, and Westbrook Can Can (Red Wine).

I always love Finch's cans. Something about the bright simple designs are so appealing.

Hi everyone. I thought I would wax poetic about a lovely surprise I found today. =)

When a beer comes together as a whole it becomes something expressive. Ask any of the real die hard beer enthusiasts. They will smile and give you a big pour. An overlooked style on the local shelf is the farmhouse ale. To me this style is synonymous with a hearty spirit and a gentle cause. The delight of the farmhouse ale is in the idea that is not too high in abv. It's spicy and citrusy the cap on this style is 7%. Dupont makes a special farmhouse ale that reaches 9.5% abv and it's called Avec Les Bon Voeux which means with best wishes . The bottle literally reads With Best Wishes from Dupont. I was very excited and from chilling wine I knew that the bottle would reach 55 degrees in about 2 and half hours in my fridge.

The color is perfect straw yellow with a gentle haze. White crown that falls well and is a pleasure to watch. Fragrant lemon. A touch of sweetness like the nectar you find in a flower. Spice and a hop that is herbal. A crisp white cracker for malt that lets you see a sweet earthy funk. It's not sour barnyard it's sweet earth. This beer has only a light touch from sugar on it. The middle is tart. That was the quality I was looking for to see if this beer made it to the higher abv and remained true to the style. It's not puckering and it's not acidic. It is simply demure this beer. Finishes perfectly dry and with a touch more of that sweet dried herb as the hop shows you a little bit of bitterness.

This beer would pair well with sharp cheeses. Of course I tested my theories and I can feel a fettucine alfredo coming on.
