Peche Mortel, Fuller's Vintage Ale, and Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout were very common holiday beers.

I like a hardy winter/holiday beer, save the spices & what not for baking.
    Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale
Great Lakes Blackout Stout or the new Ohio City Oatmeal stout for session
    As for the holiday, THIS...

Dear Santa, please bring distro to NE Ohio, all of the fine brewers producing solid beers outta Cbus, the Natti & surrounding areas.

Might skip this one. Giving it a spin now and I'm very underwhelmed. Definitely not what I've come to expect from a Scotch Ale.

For me? Great Lakes Brewing Co. - Christmas Ale hands down.

Runner up and a very close second is Port City Brewing Co. - Tidings. It has improved sooo much over last years, drinks so fast for its ABV %.

SN - Celebration is too hoppy and it ruins the spices imo.

SN Celebration, Boulevard Nutcracker, NB snow day and accumulation. I'm also looking forward to trying St. Bernardus Christmas ale this year.

Came here to say Adoration .... good on you sir. Very, very sad to see them ditch it for a seasonal stout. All that said, my Winter Solstice faves/musts:
    2XMAS
    Celebration
Year-old RIS's .... and go to bed happy.
(must say the SA holiday pack looks good enough to buy for the first time in 3-4 years this year, so i will)
Bottom line, if you don't have winter/holiday beer gotta-haves, then you live in too-warm of a climate.

    Nice list: http://hiconsumption.com/2015/01/best-winter-beers/

Some serious beers on this list and cannot argue with any of them - we always have Backwoods Bastard! I would add Christmas Ale by St. Bernardus and Christmas Bomb by Prairie, with a nod to Jubelale by Deschutes.

I have been giving La Chouffe to friends as a Christmas gift for a few years now. I know it's kind of petty, but there is a elf-ish/Santa-ish gnome on the label and cap. For those of them that aren't necessarily beer fluent, it is a great introduction into the Belgium style and a good "cold weather" drink. It's well received!!
