Yes, & I like to mock people who make such wild statements so close together... :grinning:

If brewers are really interested in 'why' us unwashed masses like or don't like their beer, they can go to the review section for more detail. This is just a bunch of people, some of them likely under the influence, throwing words around & having a bit of amusement. So there's definitely a venue for them to find out more.

As for Camo...well, I don't want this to become a 'bash Camo' thread. To me, there's a difference between a beer/brewery that I'm not fond of (& others like) & a beer that's widely believed to be miserable. What offends me about the latter is that the brewer couldn't possibly have tasted their own brew because if they had, they'd be downright embarrassed...& they just caused me to waste money while they were playing around with their equipment & 'dialing in' their beer. Dial it in before you sell it, yo!

Anyways, I'm much more likely to bash a brewery in private conversation that on the Interwebs, just because I'm not keen on stepping on someone's dream. But if that dream is putrid, & caused me to waste hard-earned money, well, they just might have it coming.

Actually, there are plenty of reviews of Cammo up. Here's mine: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/27025/76739/?ba=zeledonia

My short version: it had almost no hop aromas in the smell, and the taste was dominated by a very sharp bitterness (which could be caused by heavy use of a particular hop variety).

At the bar tonight and a guy ordered a Dyno. Bartender turned around and asked him why. I talked to him for a bit because I was curious about that reaction and he just said it was bad beer. He said there was just too much good beer around to spend time on schlock. I like that there is where we are at in the cities, but I think we need more. Not just more breweries, but more good breweries. I think it is great that there are lots of neighborhood breweries opening up and I think if they are making good beer that it is to the benefit of all beer drinkers in the state. But bad beer doesn't do anyone any good.

Considering I am the one who made the oh so offending comment, I guess I would be the applicable crowd, and I too found it a bit interesting that you asked us all to keep it civil and then labeled me something to do with clean handy river going vessels. But to each their own.

If anyone is wondering what brewers and breweries get out of being on BA, just check out the most recent Toppling Goliath thread.

Alright, fair enough. I got overly pissy and shouldn't have said it. But it's like guys have been telling women for years. "I didn't call you a bitch... I said you were being bitchy."

I stand by most things I said but would like to clarify a few.

I still think it's just effed up to say you can't wait for somebody to go out of business because you don't like their product. Just not cool.

I feel like I'm coming off as more than a Lucid fan than I am because I don't hate their beer like most of you who are chiming in do. Maybe they've had quality problems in the past but if that's the case, they appear to have solved them. I've had 4 or 5 of their beers (most in the past month or two) and all have been anywhere from easily drinkable to really good (I really liked the saison). Those with me also didn't notice any technical flaws in them.

That bartender is also a... just kidding, he was acting in a non-cool way. If you have it on tap and it's not a bad beer (i.e. not flawed somehow), why are you pushing customers away from it? Not your job. If a customer asks for your opinion of it feel free to give it but it's a bit insulting to ask why, especially if the guy knew what he was ordering. If there is something actually wrong with it (infected or whatever), then you shouldn't be selling it.

Reminds me of a time I was in a bar with some friends and the whole table ordered a local beer (no need to mention names since it's irrelevant to the story) and the server replied "You actually like that?? NOBODY who has had that likes it." It kind of scared me off so I asked her if they have dirty taplines or anything along those lines and she said nope but I asked for a sample anyway to verify.

The beer was awesome. The whole table loved it and ordered more than just one. (her opinion of it was eventually understandable because I asked her favorite beer and she said it was Bud Light).

I also get that technical reviews of beers are available on your individual reviews. I guess what rubbed me the wrong way was that this is a thread about the best of list and it turned into a hate fest. If you don't agree with the list, just name off yours and be done. No need to rip the tastes of everybody who voted and/or agree with the lists and tell people you hope their livelihood goes down the pisser.

Last thing is I suppose I'm taking the name of this site too literally. People don't always come here to be an advocate. They need an outlet to complain and vent and tell everybody that disagrees that they have poor palates. Maybe the answer is a new website (see if www.yourbeersucksandsodoesyourpallet.com is available).

Or maybe I should just skim over the negativity instead of letting it get to me. And maybe some breweries should have thicker skin but I don't blame them for not wanting to hear how much they suck. But I'm more a support what you like kind of guy than bash what you hate kind of guy.

I have no idea. I will admit I have never had it. That was the bartender's opinion. I will reserve judgment until I try it.

Cammo? Bad first impression, but they are in their infancy, and I have another bottle to sample. If it's not good, I'll drain pour, because if wasting money on beer was an issue, I'd be drinking "Platinum"--it's 6%.

Dyno was actually good. There are better beers out there, but I will definitely purchase it again. I was surprised and impressed and it has my hopes up for the rest of their offerings.

Somebody before me said it best, Cammo came out with such hoopla that we were expecting the second coming, and in the beginning it fell flat. I'm excited to try Indeed soon, hopefully they live up to the journalistic hype they have created for themselves.

Both Lucid beers I tried were bottled, FWIW.

I have only had lucid on tap, once as a sample at muddy pig, when they were pretty new and once at a food/beer/coffee event, it was better the second time, I hope they can produce better products, it would be nice to have a good dipa option year round.

Rant warning: not aimed at you, dj, or anyone in particular.

I've heard this about several breweries. "Brewery XYT is much better than when they first started bottling, you should try it again!" Know what? If you're going to consider yourself a pro brewer, DIAL YOUR DAMN RECIPE IN BEFORE YOU START INFLICTING HORRIBLE CRAP ON THE PUBLIC. AND IF YOU PUT THAT FETID MUCUS IN AN EXPENSIVE BOMBER, SHAME ON YOU.

And again, there's a difference between beer that doesn't agree with me & downright shitty beer. If you put out the latter, it's going to be a loooooooooooooooong time before I try your beer again. You want to be a professinal brewer? Then act like one, & brew like one, because I'm going to judge you like one. I hate wasting money & have heard plenty of excuses for new brewers & frankly, it's all bullshit. If you can't make good beer at the level of a production brewery, then keep your beer in five gallon batches to share with your D&D buddies.

Ahhhhhh. I feel better now. This day needs to accelerate quickly to the weekend.

Their beer may be awesome, good, average... or sub par, I personally tried Air and Dyno and I won't touch them again. But what really irks me is how terrible their design is. The labels are, in my opinion... retched. It makes me think that they really don't care. They are in it for the purpose of capitalizing on the craft beer boom in the twin cities. I'm not saying they are, I'm saying that's how their lack of passion for the look and feel of their product makes me feel.
