Unfortunately, latest batch was a one sip drain pour.

Not that my palate is razor sharp by a long shot, but hard for me to believe everyone isn't picking up the same off flavors (for an IPA).

Just spitballing here, but I remember from MBAA 2 years ago that mobile cannnings need fairly large runs (though maybe it's changed since then, a lot has happened), so maybe they had several fermenters all with Sticky Hands and some were pitched with gen x of yeast, right before it goes off the cliff and the other was with gen x+1 right after it goes off a cliff. Could've sworn they said they were changing back to the old strains by this batch though.

I had a can of the latest batch last night, and I didn't taste any off flavors.

My Sticky Hands I had last night dated Dec 1 was sublime. No off flavors here.

I had a Dec 1 can last night and it was pretty good. Not quite what I remember at Block 15 in Corvallis a few months ago, but pretty damn good.

Is there a "dislike" button? Dec 1 drain pour? Not IMO. But to each his own.

I think there's variation even among a single canning date. 11/17 first four pack was a Belgian DIPA. Just had a can from a second four-pack (same date) and not anything alike.

Can I had today (thanks @sharpski !) tasted fine. I thought it was a nicely solid and enjoyable NW IPA. No Belgianey aspects for me.

Brendan... did you try it out of the can or on tap?

The draft version I had on Friday was really pretty good I thought, and typically this is not one of my more favorite NW DIPA's. On the other hand, it sure seems like they've been putting a lot of the beer in cans, and I've noticed that recent batches have not been flying off the shelf (for whatever reason). The local MofC near me still has cans from several batches back, and it looked like 16 tons had most of the 8 cases they received on Thursday or Friday. May just be the greater supply, but demand seems to have slacked off a bit since they started canning Sticky Hands.

I've been drinking sticky hands from the beginning. I used to travel to Corvallis to max out, especially the odd months for the variation releases. We aren't talking about just not enjoying this specific beer, it happens to be one of my favorite OR IPAs. The last 2 batches, especially this Dec 1 batch have been awful. Maybe there is variation can to can (which is another issue either way) and I was unlucky with the cans I received? This isn't pallet preference, we are talking about beer that shouldn't have been put to package if it went through sensory analysis. Ideally Nick can weigh in again on whats going on, b/c my entire group sadly dumped our Dec 1st cans (as well as the "batch 2" cans.)

There must be can to can variation in the Dec 1 batch. We've drank through 6 of the 8 cans we bought at NWIPA on Dec 2nd (Dec 1 canning date) and none of them have been even close to drain pours. I think we can discuss whether the quality has slipped since Sticky was in bottles. But these have still been above average IPA (and a half) beers. No Belgian flavor, no bubble gum, no off anything. Definitely on the piney side. I've been buying Sticky in bottles since the beginning, normal at Mongers on Wednesday. While I know people have different hop preferences and tastes differ, I can't imagine someone considering the Sticky we've been drinking a drain pour.

    Can.

A person I respect in the beer industry passed along a can from his 4-pack as he was, along with me, excited to try the newest batch since the last was a disappointment. He came back the next day, asked me if I drank the can, I said yes, and without me saying a word about it began to apologize. Immediate drain-pour for him as well.

Any talk of 'disliking' posts about these batches is silly. The people who have posted negative feedback are people who love Sticky Hands and love and respect Block 15 as a brewery. Top to bottom their portfolio is among the best in the country. But whatever was in that can I had over the weekend was terrible in an extremely objective manner. This isn't 'hating' on Block 15, it's expressing disappointment in what is supposed to be a great beer.

Just drank a second can from the 12/1 batch, it is getting hard to drink

I see why people drain pour

Interesting, there must definitely be variation in the 12/1 batch. I had the 2nd batch and wasn't a fan, tasted too much like it had Belgian yeast. I've had 2 cans of the 12/1 batch and it tastes fantastic. Bummer to hear some aren't getting the same experience.

I tasted sticky from a 12/1 can at Mongers last night and while not a drain pour, it wasn't that great either. This is in contrast to 12/1 cans purchased last week at NWIPA. So there's definitely some variation in the latest batch.

had the 12/15 batch last night. IMO, it is the best batch of the cans to date.

Picked up a 4 pack of the 12/15 batch last night. Drinking it now. It's delicious. I didn't try any of the previous batches so can't compare. Huge tropical and floral notes here. Very Plinyesque. Head was almost non-existent, which I found strange, but this is top notch stuff. Wouldn't worry about any bad batches now.

Was able to find a single can near me yesterday, where is everyone seeing the canned date at? I am having trouble finding it on the can.

It's stamped on a sticker on the 4-pack holder. There's no date on the can itself.
