I'd go, but I've left work and struck our twice already today and a third may make me go bonkers.

 

What Alpine bottled beers are you getting exactly? AFAIK GF is brewing all the beer that goes into bottles.

 

I was first in line at WF Clarendon. 2 guys showed up right behind me. This was literally 5 minutes ago. Should be 3 bottles left. Have to ask the beer guy as they are not on the shelf.

the consolation is that they are expecting a Bourbon GBS shipment between now and 3pm.

 

Yep, turns out that's the case after all and I won't be getting said bottles! There was a little bit of a confusion here, as Alpine continued to sell their own bottles after the GF takeover while GF was sending kegs of Alpine out into the world. Seems that now that GF is bottling, they've shut Alpine's own bottling down. So now all Alpine itself is brewing is the draft-only stuff that GF isn't bottling (stuff like Bad Boy, Keene Idea, and new beers like Hop Boxed and High Kicks).

 

Yea, I had a conversation with some buddies here about that. I'm all for it as were they. Nelson in bottles is pretty close, Pure Hoppiness by GF is pretty solid, but it's allowing Alpine to brew all these amazing small batch IPAs constantly. Hop Boxed and High Kicks are outstanding. Went to a brewfest recently and just kept getting refills of Hop Boxed. Another result of the GF money is that they handing out all kinds of new Alpine stickers at these fests perfect for your beer fridge. They also aren't only filling Alpine labeled growlers; they'll just put an Alpine sticker on it.

 

Pappy is the most gouged beverage on the planet.

 

Also, I have no clue about bottle shops, but I can promise that draft of Abraxas in DC will be....plentiful.

 

Have any TJ's or Wegmans's seen BB GBS yet?

Just got a bottle of Abraxas at WF Alexandria. Looked like they still had about half a case behind the counter.

That's better than TW, where it was $24.99. Whole Paycheck has been showing up TW pretty consistently recently.

 

Didn't realize it was such a pricy stout. Been on my bucket list for a while so I bit. Better than two bottles of BCBS? We'll see.

 

Everyone is complaining about the BCBS price increase, but it's still one of the best values out there.

 

I mean, the bottle is 50% bigger, so it's not quite that drastic. But yea, it's more expensive per ounce.
