Except for the fact that Bullfrog and the police knew about it and "turned a blind eye" as long as no one got out of control. Both parties really did not care. Hell, I shared a pour with a Bullfrog employee who was strolling the line.

That is a lot different than what Kane wants.

    That is 100% true.

But I would still prefer to take my chances with tickets rather than a line that has zero controls over cutting and people holding spots for their bros that show up an hour later, etc...

It would also prevent them from doing what they did last year regarding changing the limits throughout the day.

One thing re: tickets vs. line. Does Kane have the space to store all those bottles for anyone who doesn't come in on Sunday to pick them up? They may just be thinking "well let's get all this inventory out of here in one shot" a la Other Half can releases.

Question...Did they do growler fills of ANTEAD in the week(s) after the bottle release? Just trying to plan if I don't get any bottles.

Low limits is the best way to keep this from getting out of hand. Multiple checkouts would also be nice (cash vs credit). Keep merchandise separate.

I think the ticket system could work and would be nice. My only problem is Kane isn't open every day. Yes, most people should be able to get there on a Sat or Sun, but if they went this route, I would want them to be open everyday for a week to give us the best option to pick up.

If they do limits of 4 regular and 2 variants I think it will run somewhat smooth

The same exact problem exists with a line. You may not be available the day of the release. Which is a Sunday.

Theoretically, if you are available on a Sunday for a release, that means you are also available to pick up bottles with a ticket on a Sunday too.

Not to mention with tickets, you can have a proxy pick your bottles up for you if you are not available Fri, Sat, or Sunday, when they are open.

You are actually arguing against more options for days to pick up verse one single day.

You can also have a mule go for you on a Sunday if you can't make it.

How am I arguing against more options for days to pick up?

First of all, you are not basing your post in reality. Kane is opened three days a week. Unless it's spring/summer, in which case they are opened four.

With a ticket system, you have those three days, and possibly more if they are willing to hold bottles for a few weeks after the release.

With a one day release with no tickets you have exactly one day. The day of the release.

How do you not get that?

This idea that they should be opened every day in the week is a pipe dream. I'm not saying it wouldn't be more convenient. But working with what is factual at the present time, a ticket system gives you more options for pick up than a single day release with no tickets.

Ticketed system with no proxies and limited pick up, would help those closer to the brewery. Ticketing system with proxies allows people in Cali to buy tickets and mule out the proxies would not be a good thing for those close to the brewery.

Now as a business owner, what I don't know is, how much it costs the brewery to do a BPB release. What is the hassle for the owner.

I have seen that they add the fees to the person buying the beer, so I would imagine it would not cost much if anything at all.

You would be surprised, in many cases both customer and seller are hit with fees. Set up costs, contracts, etc. Than the needs to process the orders, may require more equipment for a smaller company. What might seem like a no brainer from a consumer, might be a hassle for the retailer. When all they have to do is open their doors with no extra overhead or headache.

We tried groupon once and it was a nightmare from a seller point of view. Just not educated enough to say that your dumb for NOT doing a ticketing system. I feel their popularity should have at least lead them to look into it.

and they could charge $1 more per bottle to cover it. I am sure everyone would pay it without blinking an eye. I would imagine the ticket sites try to keep the costs down to attract business.

Kind of a big assumption that there's no extra overhead or headache though, isn't it? They've asked people not to drink, and everyone here knows there will be at least some people that drink. That causes a headache. There will also be people who cut lines, which is also a headache. I haven't been to Kane, but I imagine parking could cause a headache. I could go on and on. Also, if they run multiple points of sale, that would add costs that wouldn't exist if the pickup was spread out over a longer time period.

Well as someone who has been there a few times and not just for releases, and was there last year, they weren't ready for the crowds that showed up. But at the end of the day they had the beer pretty much sold out, and they had their money. The headache was for the people waiting in line, not Kane. Did some complain, sure, did some come online and trash them, sure, but they opened as they normally did, and with a couple extra employees on hand, sold more beer in one day than they did in who knows how many weeks/months prior.

Again, looking forward, I think some of us expected to see more changes to the release this year and all we have is a date. We know from the past couple of releases they changed the line formation. But I think many expected to see a step change for this release. I was just saying from a business owner point of view, unless they or someone else from another brewery comes in to explain why or why nots, we have no idea of what could be required of them in the back end to run a ticketed event. To compare Kane to The Brurey isn't really fair as they have a full website pos, societies set up, and Im sure a much bigger facility.

While to the customer a ticketed system is a no brainer, weeks later of I can't come to get to my beer, please hold it longer phone calls, requests. Charge backs from credit card companies, fees from the online platform, are all an unknown to us. What is known to Kane is, open the door and they will come and buy all the beer. No storage, no lost tickets, no future hassles, the beer is gone and money is in the bank.

Again, as a customer I would love to have brown paper tickets right now for my allotment of this release and pick up the beer on the 18/19th when I travel to NNJ to see friends for Christmas. But I and we as of now don't have that option.

Part of me is holding out hope that the lack of further info means they're pulling together some sort of last minute ticketing process...
