Darkness in Chicago

Not sure if I should admire their enthusiasm or feel sorry for them. To each their own.

 

any insight about darkness hitting the NW burbs? i saw dicarlos got it today in mundelien but the last ones were handed out as i was walking up to them (im located in schaumburg)

 

I just went to the Buffalo Grove Binnys and it was gone already, even the nonBA :^(

 

If you can't make it within an hour of any store getting it, don't even bother trying. If it's posted to BA, then you have probably ~15 minutes. Between truck chasers and store waiters there's just no chance to beat the guys trying to turn a profit.

 

one of my stores only has 100 likes on their facebook page that posted a pic of it and they still ran out within an hour. (thumbsdown)

 

Not to mention the friends of coworkers who inevitably get the heads up when a truck arrives. Or store employees themselves who want one. It's frankly a miracle when anything limited like this is available at all to me. I try not to lose sleep over it anymore. Working at a Binnys has to come with those kinds of perks right??

 

Oh I def don't lose sleep over it, my lunch time is normally when the truck comes so its usually pretty good timing

 

I think people can do whatever they want with their free time; the only thing I object to is the truck chasers who hoard everything so that others get none. To me the biggest shame is that there are a lot of people out there who really just want one specific beer, and end up with nothing, because the hoarders are grabbing everything that could potentially be a "whale."

 

Yup, if it weren't for lunchtime, I would have 90% less BA beer.

I totally agree with this. I don't want every BA beer out there but Darkness is my groups favorite beer and I always need to trade for it because it's so tough to get to actually buy for myself. I have to believe the same dozen people are buying 90% of the limited beers that come to my local Binnys since they always get so little of everything.

 

Whole Foods on Fullerton has regular.

 

Yeah, I feel you on that. Darkness is one of my favorites too, and I got completely shut out last year (although I didn't love last year's when I had it on tap, so I guess that's okay). I've got my one bottle of regular, but I would bet that's it. I'm hoping there are some places that have the BA version on tap in the next month or two.

 

Sounds like we need this thread to continue for BA tap sightings! I'd be cool tasting it that way if the stars aligned.

 

Northdown and Emporium had BA (and I'm assuming regular too) last week

 

a few months ago i randomly found 14 darkness on tap at links and thats honestly the reason why i want to find some bottles right now

Unfortunately not me because I only got a couple bottles of BA and will do the unthinkable and actually drink them.

I don't doubt it, but I'm terrible at trading for the same reason. I buy with the intent to drink, and so almost never have anything worth trading.

That's a very risky move for a bottle of beer. You could've died man.
