I got blanked. Never tried it. I don't sleep on the floor of bottle shops waiting for trucks, but by sheer coincidence I was at the Naperville Binnys just minutes after the last BA bottle left. Almost.

This year was the first in 4 years that I didn't go to Darkness Day, so yes, I have had it.

Just when you think the craft beer game couldn't get any more intense, we go and set a new standard. Between the Pipeworks BA release Monday and Darkness today and yesterday, this whole "store lingering" technique is just ridiculous. I actually fear the day when all beer stores just stop these releases and put them directly to lottery or something like that.

You mean like some states do for Pappy and the other big bourbons? Yeah...I seriously hope it never comes to that. Chicago needs to relax.

The good and bad of this site! Love when a post helps a lad out, unfortunately the lad wasn't me this time...

Honestly, just stop dealing with that madness, it's just not worth it. There's plenty of ridiculously great beer that sits on shelves while some of the "hyped" stuff flies. You could walk into any Binny's right now and find just a stupid selection of beer of almost every style. Sure you missed on Darkness (which isn't even close to a top stout for me) but I bet you could walk into Binny's and find 5-10 stouts just as good.

Life is not worth the stress of getting anxious/annoyed about BEER when there's an abundance of amazing beer wasting away on shelves. We are spoiled for riches and yet dorks are hanging out at stores, madness.

    Because:

    1) he posted it past my bedtime

    2) someone posted a Darkness event right after it.

It's like one of those inspirational scenes in a movie, where someone gives a big speech about how "we won't give up, just because they're bigger than us, doesn't mean they can fight as hard as us," everyone starts to get inspired, and then someone else shouts "hey look, the big guys have pizza!" and everyone runs over and joins the bad guys.

With that being said, yes, at some point people really need to realize how great the shit we have in Chicago is. It shouldn't take a FoBAB medal or a wax cap to get people to buy the stuff on our shelves.

The store lingering is the worst. I went to Binnys on Tuesday and saw 5 people hanging around for pipeworks. Asked the employee how long they had been there (he said pretty much since they opened), then I grabbed a regular darkness (those guys had got the last BA darkness) and a Deths Tar. Not worth waiting in stores all day for a beer. Local hole in the wall store later than night had BA darkness.

I actually hope the stores do revert to a lottery system like some states do for Pappy. Then at least the same 5 unemployed guys who try to make a living flipping beer don't get all the beer. Lotteries just make more sense.

Well with that being said I understand that Bolingbrook Binny's has a case of each still that they're going to release this morning.

I wish there was a live feed for the Bolingbrook Binny's right now. Like Big Brother for the beer hunters.

Just curious, what has the price been on BA darkness at Binny's?
