When I was at OB today, I was talking to the bartender and she told me they are going to be focusing even more on their barrel aging program, and will be meeting with the brewers from Goose Island to talk process and will more than likely do a collaboration with them.

Had a good laugh with some awesome BAs I met RE the old guy 2 front of me who bought 12 crowlers after not saying a word for the hour we were in line only to give one box (6 of them) to some other dude at the back of the line. We confirmed with the (very awesome) bartender lady that it was not running out any time soon yet he felt it necessary to order way more than he needed and have everyone wait for his ass. That... and the dudes with 30+ crowlers sitting at the tables sipping their beer looking smug as fuck

I'm starting to sound old and crotchety./rant

Saw that as well, and probably had the same "WTF?" reaction as you.

Yeah. At least do limits on fills per trips in line. You want 50 crowlers, go through line ten times. Then post your haul on Facebook

Agreed! Even though i benefitted some from no limits (and for the record i didn't grab close to 25 or 30!) that system would be better. Or at least add another line for pours so ppl can drink it while waiting. I asked my friend to grab the pours while i grabbed the crowlers, thinking i was at Casey's, but no dice. I had to buy pours with the crowler which surely doesn't help with speed of the line.

Also funny seeing ppl with stacks of crowler trays. It looked like a casino but with crowlers instead of chips. Saw one stack that was $525 worth of beer! I was tempted to just start a poker table to bet crowlers with.

    That would be awesome!

Couldn't agree more - even if no ultimate limits - pour 3 and then you get back in line. People were buying 20-30 crowlers at a time - and we all just waited as they filled them all and brought the boxes full of 20+ beers to these guys' tables. By far the worst run release (compounded by some of the worst BA behavior) I've ever seen. Got there at 10:15, was ~10th in line and waited ~1.5 hours for 3 crowlers. Had a pour while I waited though and it was divine!!!!

I don't understand why people are getting so many though. That's... so much money. They are going to flood the trade market too, and crowlers have a limited lifespan.

Are you attempting to apply logic to this?

To give a perspective you were 10th in line when you got there but that was after a bunch of people had already gone through. There were 20 in line when they opened the door at 10am. Guessing there were people who already ordered a bunch and were sitting at the tables waiting for them to be filled and that's why the long wait for only seeming to be 10 people back.

And yes I would have been pissed also

That's exactly what happened. At one point I was 4th in line, and was told they needed to fill 33 more before they could take the next order.

Anyway, for all of my complaining, etc., I'd do it again for this beer. So good.

Wouldn't it be sweet justice (and awesome) if they blended a swimming pool sized batch and it lasts on draft until Christmas. Enjoy your 50 crowlers!

I would be happy if it even lasted until tomorrow. If it did I might actually have a chance to get 2-3 crowlers (yes, that's all I can afford and even that's pushing it).
