Thanks. It worked best about 3 parts stout to 1 part Matilda. I was going for an 'original London porter' feel, so it just needed that extra bit of funkiness. Any more Matilda and it took over.

Full disclosure: I'm an honorary MOT - my wife and kids are Jewish. But it's a great community here! If you let me in the group I promise to leave the bacon-wrapped shellfish at home!

I am lucky enough to work just a 5 minute walk from trillium. As for tree house, I dont get there often enough but it is always worth the trip!

As for Jews in TN-My wife's aunt & cousins live there. They are academics and employed by Vandy. Or lawyers. hah.

I agree. I find a lot of people I speak with dont like single hopped beers. But i love how much character comes out of them.

I was going to ask about bacon in the beer... (for the record, I'm not a fan of that. Bacon on it own, once in a while, OK, (yes, I'm a bad Jew...) but if I want smokyflavor in my beer, I'll use a bit of smoked malt.)
I have some family in TN also, on my mother's side. They are officially Jewish, but I don't know about how practicing, or what.

For the record, last night I went up to Medusa Brewing in Hudson MA, grabbed a couple growlers - one of a Citra Legacy IPA, and another of a stout aged on cocoa nibs. I cracked the Citra one last night. Tonight will be the rest of that, and maybe a Fiddlehead Mastermind a friend brought back for me from Vermont. Also on deck, should I change my mind, SN Celebration, Cape Cod Beer IPA and Stoneface Small IPA.

I've been away from here for a couple of weeks; we took a cruise and I just haven't had the time since we got back. So, I haven't seen this thread until this morning. I don't have any pictures, but we had some friends over for a Hanukkah dinner last night. I made a very tender and tasty brisket, some kugel, and of course latkes. I even broke out some gefilte fish for my goyim friends to try, but only one of them was willing to try it. The beer selection included Jai Alai IPA, Coronado Orange Avenue Wit, and Celebration Ale.

Methinks this is a pretty appropriate choice for what is sadly the last night of Chanukah 2015. its actually pretty solid. Thanks once again to my friend @monkeybeerbelly for starting this awesome thread and thanks to everyone who contributed! l'chaim

Am sorry to see Hanukah go, next year in Jerusalem....or not, the craft beer scene is quite weak there. Cheers!

This is the best I could do for a photo tonight, as we were entertaining for the last night of Chanukah-

That's my Ballantine Burton at the far end of the table. Coincidentally one of our guests has the surname of 'Burton', so naturally I told him that I had "a beer with your name on it" when he came through the door . Of course, a few more were opened...

What a way to end the week! Thanks again to @monkeybeerbelly and all who posted- enjoy the remainder of your holidays in the best way possible, and we'll all see each other next year! L'chaim!

Sadly my worst pick is on the final night at my folks house. A 750 of Le Peloton to my dome along with several shots of vodka (yay Russian family gatherings) on this final night.

This was moments before they piled the table high with gifts for my little one. I mean what are grandparents (and hannukah) for than spoiling a 2 year old!!
