I'm anxious to hear how many people try to hit both. The early arrivals at Kane (10am open) will be able to get back to NYC in time for Finback (1pm open).

I'm glad I'm missing Kane after last year's debacle...they really need to go to BPT or pre-packaged cases with set allotments. That said, I wish I had been in town for BQE. Happy hunting gents.

I'm entertaining that exact thought of trying to hit Kane (early) and then get back for Finback. I'm slightly upstate though and Kane is a poke so I'm not sure I want to do all of that driving around. Will see what they say on FB about the protocol in the AM and then go from there. BQE is the priority though as I absolutely love that beer.

i hit the Finback Oscillation can event last year, unknowingly. Was coming home from Rockaway Beach and googled breweries and FinBack popped up. It must have been 2-3 o'clock, cans were purchased along with Plumb and Proper and another sour beer, the one they just canned. I can't say that will happen again this year tho.

Has Finback put any more information out on the flavor profile/ABV, etc of Oscillation 002? All I have found is a couple references to it containing lots of Citra. Sounds amazing but wondering if there was any more info out there.

Sorry for the new questions, but can anyone shed a little more information on the Finback release this weekend? I couldn't find anything information on their website.

What style of beer is being released? Is it $15/bottle or is that per 4 pack? If I stroll in there with some friends at say, 3-4 on Saturday and have a few beers in the taproom, will I likely be able to pick up the limited beer too?

Barrel Aged BQE--an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels. The BQE is our Brooklyn Queens Espresso imperial stout. Cocoa nibs from the Brooklyn based Mast Brothers and Coffee from Queens based Native Coffee Roasters were added to the boil making for a super complex tasty brew.

$15 per bottle, 4 bottle limit. No clue on whether it will last that long? ANTEAD is Sunday as well, so that may mean a smaller crowd...

The on-site bottles of BA BQE sold out at the release last year, if memory serves. Or at least very close to it. I'd guess there were 100ish people there?

Somewhat poorly handled release, I might add, hope they've figured out a way to keep things orderly and speed things up. All could have been alleviated if they just sold bottles the moment they opened their doors.

So last year they were already open and then sold bottles at some point in the day? It sounds like this year they open at 1 and bottles are sold at 1, right?

Make sure you roll in SUNDAY if you want cans/bottles - they are not releasing on Saturday

So last year they opened their doors at 12 and everyone filed in and grabbed tables, beers, etc. And then at 1ish everyone jumped up and literally ran across the room to the one point of sale machine when they brought out the beers. I was one of the first people in line outside before they opened at 12 but happened to grab a table on the opposite side of the room from where they decided to sell bottles so I basically had to stand in another hour long line inside the brewery itself to get them when anyone off the street walking in at 1 could have theoretically jumped right to the head if they happened to be standing in the right place at the right time. [holy run on sentence]

TL DR: It was chaotic and there was a second needlessly long line after we had stood in line outside already

If they sell bottles right when they open this year that whole problem will be solved very easily. I'd guess they would do that?

I originally thought this was going to be released tomorrow?

I cant make it Sunday. That's a major bummer.

Who does a release on Sunday at 1pm when local football teams are playing? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Hipster beer geeks living in nyc and football fans don't have much overlap and if memory serves they do have a TV. Plus the giants are playing monday night and no one in their right mind cares about the jets.

I think its a very small minority of beer lovers who dont like sports because its not cool to like more than one thing in life. Most beer drinkers I know love football. I've said many times that I dont understand why beer bars dont have a tv or two to show sports games..we only live in an area with 8 teams.

I haven't had BA BQE until today. Purchased a pour before I bought bottles. So glad I did because I will not be buying any bottles. It is thin, with minimum barrel characteristic. Oscillation 002 is great though.
