Hunahpu may be overrated. Hunahpu's Day is anything but.

I thought 2015 was a disappointing batch, but 2013-14 were amazing IMO.

Indeed. Especially at $25 a bottle. I'll stick with Mayan Mocha from Oddsides at $11.99 a 6'er and can get it year round.

Full disclosure as I am an admitted CCB fanboy. Mayan Mocha was sent my way in a BIF box, and I was looking forward to trying it as I had heard it described as a nice substitute for Huna. Most disappointing.

I thought Mayan Mocha was very disappointing too. Huna is a great beer, but Huna Day is a GREAT DAY!

I've haven't seen it for retail sale in a few years, and I live close to the brewery. Where did you find it at $25 in NC? Just another shelf turd, I guess.

Haven't seen it retail in a few years? Huna has never hit retail. Always one day only at the brewery only.

I agree 2015 Huna wasn't as good as past batches but is still fantastic as always.

With it being bigger it means the "whales" will be harder to get because it's more people in line waiting for them but with a lot more breweries means should be even more room for grabbing unlimited samples from random breweries most people won't even bother with. Had a lot of excellent stuff last year with no wait.

like how there was no line for CBS for a long period last year, while people waited for SR-71. mmk.

Or two years ago, when there were nearly a thousand people in line for KBS while there was literally no one at the Mazurt booth right next door.

I just stood there chatting with the brewer and drinking my weight in BA barleywine

I see myself spending lots of time at the Mazurt booth again. Amazing stuff.

Lol...Yep...Founders Booth had zero line all day for KBS and CBS....same with Goose Island and all The BCS Varietals...everyone stood in The SR 71 Line and the other Toppling Goliath Line never had much of a line and you could get as many samples of you wanted of the other 6 they brought....damn last year was great

well, this years CBS was a massive letdown, as is KBS. so they weren't wrong.

I stood in line for the SR-71 only to be massively disappointed in it.

Luckily I'm smart and brought my wife along and had her go wait in other lines. She ended up hammered drinking pour after pour of CBS but was kind enough to finally bring me one.

I've learned that like with most of life if you're an attractive woman wearing a low cut shirt those pouring beer will give you as many pours of whatever beer you want.

i was also disappointed by SR-71, but not by summation.

on a related note, we've had the "it's good to be an attractive woman at a beer fest" conversation more than a few times lol...

Easy Rider I believe. ReGifter was the DIPA. Personally I didn't think much of either.

But back on topic: I'm also in agreement that there were TONS of amazing beers with NO lines...really the only waits last year were for TG and 3 Sons and eventually CCB's tent though it was a short wait.

Just found my booklet yesterday while cleaning and look forward to seeing my ticks and notes...before they became scribbled pictures of rocket-ships.

Yea summation was my favorite beer of the day. Went straight there after waiting in line for SR-71.

I will also say everyone was in a very chipper mood last year. After my wife and I got pretty buzzed we were definitely line cutting when I would go to one line and get a beer quick and she was still standing in hers and I would just go walk up with her not even thinking about it and no one said anything unless it was a huge group trying to jump in a line. Also, normally offered snacks to those around us which helped.

being friendly/sharing goes a long way. we were giving out samples of FouMosas and other beverages while waiting in line and everyone loved it. it was also nice to give some samples to the breweries who are trapped behind the tables all day. sadly, we won't be able to do that this year.
