it was scarce. some accounts refused it, after word of infection.

petit four break also hit, second runnings of biscotti break.

 

We had one this weekend and noticed a tartness to it.

 

thats how mine was. cant say it was necessarily undrinkable, but it wasnt enjoyable.

 

Yup, same here. We actually pulled out some cognac to taste just to make sure that wouldnt impart that tartness.

What I noticed most is it didn't have that chocolate/fudge taste that the regular and DB Jesus has.

 

exactly. i didnt have any cognac to compare, but went back to it a day later just for good measure and definitely got the tartness and no complexity to the brew.

 

I was the most put off by that bottle @nograz is referring to. I thought it was nasty. Like infected White Chocolate nasty. Drain poured it.

 

Oh come on, it wasn't that bad. In fact if I didn't know what it was, I probably would have enjoyed it more.

 

Did Hawaiian Speedway ever come close to this market (ie., Casanova...)?

 

I am pretty sure it was bruery only (bottles that is)

Haven't seen it in stores for a while. The brewery had special box sets not too long ago. I don't know if any of them are left. Maybe worth a call.
