So I've been wanting to try this for some time now but didn't think the trading value would be so high. Looks like I have to make a really generous offer in order to get some.

you gotta really really love citra hops in order to give up more $4$, if your just a fan of ipa's in general it really isn't worth trading that much for it

Is it really worth trading beer at all?

No one here can predict how much you'll like it, and no one here knows how much you like/value what you'd need to give up for it. No one can answer this question for you. BA as a whole clearly thinks it's a very good beer. Is it worth what you'd give up? None of us know.

Well I do love citra hops. I guess ill drink ZD for now and hope that the Citra hype train will soon crash.

FFS, it's not hype. There's a ton of demand for the beer (1446 wants to 32 gots is a pretty absurd ratio) and they hardly make any, maybe 3k bottles so far this year. It's going to continue to be extremely hard to get until Kern River expands and Citra hops become more available, neither of which will happen any time soon.

I love IPAs and DIPAS but know about about trading rares for citra when pliny, heady, and ZD are easier to trade for

I have had both and personally like ZD better than Citra. It is a good beer though. I wouldnt expend too much energy trying to trade for it.

so drink those. I guess you really don't need to trade for bbpt5 if you have access to Parabola. Alternatively, you don't really need to trade at all. If you want to try Citra, comply with what the market dictates. It seems a bit gauche to fold your arms and expect to trade Pliny for a 1300 bottle brewery only release that, while frowned upon to mention, is in the middle of nowhere, released twice a year, has a 6 bottle limit and sold out immediately.

Your offer of BA Old Rasputin/Abacus wasn't unreasonable but most of the people I talked to who drove upwards of 350 miles roundtrip 1) have access to those and 2) are probably just going to drink the Citra that they went through all the trouble to get.

I think Mordormongo has the right cue, if you can get it with ZD, do so, if not, it's just beer drink the zd and you still win.

I got a Citra for a KBS in part of a larger trade in the spring, I would say it was worth it.

congratulations, you're a classic example of why 'hype' shouldn't be used as it is on BA.

notice how you want to try citra? guess what: lots of other people do too. also, many reviewers and other traders have had it, and they liked it. they wanted more. it doesn't come out particularly often, and not a particularly large amount is made.

guess when the hype train is going to crash? never. why is that? because "the hype train" is people praising it, and its demand being high. notably, this has nothing at all to do with "hype" (talking something up to sell it). you call it hype because you want to justify being bitter that you can't have it. guess what? you're not justified in being bitter.

    ---

    now, some advice:

    try this,

    ISO: citra
FT: (what you're willing to give up)

if it works, congratulations! if not, offer more or get over it.

    ---

edit: for the slow, i'm not saying that "citra should trade for [whatever OP thinks is too much]." i'm not saying "no one will trade citra for ZD or locals." i'm saying: IF you don't see any offers "low enough" and the value "doesn't seem right to you," the problem--if there is one at all--is not in the world, it's in you.

I offered this in the trade forum on 8/16: FT:6 Heady Toppers for ISO 2 bottles of Citra. I got crickets. Not even one BM. I was really surprised by this. I thought it was a nice deal for both traders. Any input from BA's whether or not this will get done? Am I offering a fair deal?

If you can get this in your glass within 3 weeks of bottling then it is fantastic and well worth the price of admission. However, it drops off very quickly after that.

I bet two four packs of Heady for one Citra would get some action.
