Beer in Omaha, NE

First he told me they did not have it. I then mentioned that my friend got a bottle yesterday. He then replied "we may have had a case" (to me that means you are out, hence past tense). That is when you entered the situation. Either way, was definitely lied to the first time with Rare, and again (IMO) a second time today. I am good and most definitely appreciate the offer from a fellow BA'er. Cheers.

 

Sure, always willing to share! Yeah, I'm sure their case of rare was all spoken for before it even showed up. They've got regulars up there having frequent bottle shares etc. Just sorta the nature of it. I'd just be careful about calling specific people out and calling them liars in public w/o having all the facts etc. Just my two cents though.

 

@ZaxGhost Probably should not mention names, but then again, maybe those individuals should handle things a little differently from here on out. Simply just say that they are all spoken for. Not that hard. The big thing to remember is that it is just beer. That is just my $.02.

 

Another point is, who is to say that I am not a regular already (and just don't show up every Tuesday night for the shares) or might become a regular there in the future.... Just not a good way to conduct business. Anyways, beer is good, people who drink beer are cool ( for the most part), and I am done with my verbal vomit. Just had to express my frustrations...

 

I do think as craft beer becomes more popular it is going to become tougher and tougher for stores to figure out how to handle limited releases since there isn't enough to go around. Some go with the first come first serve philosophy which I think is a pretty descent way to go, others reserve for their regulars, another option is a raffle. One of the stores that I frequent in Colorado has gotten to the point where they will just randomly throw rare beer out in random places on the shelves to award regulars who are paying attention. No matter what there is no pleasing everyone. In the end it's just beer.

 

LC #6 tomorrow. Alpine Pure Hoppiness crowlers tomorrow. It's a 1/2 bbl so we will 55+ of them.

 

Brix on 170th just uncovered a pallet of Xocoveza.

I didn't realize the hoopla around it but figured i'd get a sixer. $16.99 going price there. Had a fellow come in to my Hy Vee location today to ask for it (had a feeling might have been a Beer Advocate member...are you on here? ) but unfortunately we couldn't satisfy the request.

We still have two bottles of BCBS Reg for $12.99. Sitting there, gathering dust. Not on the shelves; ask for it at our counter. Again, I'm passionate about beer and I love to talk about it, but I don't get to do a lot of it there as it's mostly a glorified grocery market and people buy malt liquor and cigarettes. If you ever do want to make my job better, please do stop by so we can chat about beer lol. I've got dark rimmed glasses and some overgrown hair, ha.

Did Apple Brandy Noir drop last time in Omaha? Super limited or we missed out this time? Freaking loved Vanilla Noir, so figured I got to get my hands on Apple.

 

I too have had similar experience(s) at Brix. I must have just missed you guys because I saw the 2 bottles of LC#6 on the counter when I left. The staff is very friendly but I have learned my lesson over the years to stay away for limited releases that aren't on the shelf.
