Nothing new under the sun, except it's a touch warmer.

There are many new factors, but that quote seems apt......"If history could teach us anything, it would be that private property is inextricably linked with civilization". You've gotten me glued to Ludwig von Mises' prolific quotations! Thanks.

Not sure what where the conspiracy lies. The reason a lot of big craft brands have/had aligned with Bud houses was because they had more access, thus were able to get your brand in more stores and bars.

Right, that's in bottle shops that sell how many bbl's of beer in a year vs your chain's and c-stores?

I hope that non-specific distributors can somehow thrive. There are distributors focusing on brands that AB/InBev doesn't carry or doesn't plan on carrying.

USPS should make the change and allow beer to be legally shipped. Allow beer sales online and create an Amazon like store. It would be interesting to see the reaction from AB.

You can't blame them for trying to slow the craft brewing. Thy are losing market share and need to do something.

Unicorns die every time someone posts about boycotting AB Inbev's products from an IPhone or Android.

I'm a bad boy. I ship beer via USPS, with the package reading: Fragile, Barbecue Sauce. Works every time. I do feel guilty.

While the $ end of this deal is a twist, AB pushing for exclusivity in their distributorships is nothing new. From my own post in January 2013:

Two smaller AB wholesalers that were run by personal friends of mine suffered at the hands of AB in their push for 100% exclusivity in their distributors. Both distributors were visited by their AB reps to perform a compliance audit. Believe me when I say there is a manual that the distributors have to abide by, and it is thick. The brewery rep went around the distributorship examining everything. They were written up for having duct tape on a torn forklift seat, bulbs out in exterior lighted signs, one even was written up for having dents in the metal siding on the building where it had been hit by a truck or forklift. They also were both written up for having non AB items listed first on an invoice, above AB products... They were told they needed to 100% compliant with the "rules" or their distribution agreements would be reviewed. One fixed everything, remained compliant and AB couldn't say anything about them continuing to sell non AB products. The other decided to say "screw it" and sold the business to another wholesaler and retired. The guy who decided to stay and fix everything spent 6 months, and thousands of dollars, becoming fully compliant and fixing all the "violations" on his review

This new approach of using $ incentives is much more of a carrot rather than the older stick method, but the goal is the same.

That would be awesome, but so many Federal laws would have to change.

My favorite was "incentivize". That's not even a word, and he just drops it in there like he's in a management meeting, and not in a release to the public. :stuck_out_tongue:

Cheers indeed to Queen City Q for their business decision to not sell AB InBev beer. Hopefully others will follow suit and then maybe (just maybe) AB InBev will drop this incentive program; just let the market decide which beers are sold without these incentives.

    Cheers!
