Dogfish head India Brown Ale. My mom liked eating at the brewpub, so I thought maybe the beer was worth checking out.

Going to college in San Diego is what opened my eyes to the world of craft beer, the first brews that got me into craft were Stone Arrogant Bastard, Karl Strauss Red Trolley, and Alesmith Anvil ESB.

The Crazy Horse Saloon in Bloomington, IN had a a thing going called Around the World in 80 Beers. A lot of it was crappy American and Euro lagers, but there were some stouts and porters that were head turners. But the moment that I will never forget was my first Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale. Mid 80's, a friend of mine was house sitting for a professor at IU and invited me over to watch movies, etc. She said there was beer in the fridge. It was full of imports and I grabbed the Sam Smith Nut Brown Ale. I have rarely bought an AAL since. My roommates would come to the liquor store with me and tell me, "You know you can buy a case of _____ for what you are paying for that 6 pack of beer." Not long after that there was Goose Island and Sam Adams and Bell's and the 1st micro-brew bubble. Fond memories.

I lived in CO and enjoyed Fat Tire, Odells 90 and Buffalo Gold in the 90's but Hop Wallop was my true craft beer turning point.
