Of all the Berliner Weisses I've had, Schell's have been serious standouts. Superb beers.

de Garde's are cool, but like Westbrook's Gose, they eschew tartness for straight up sour, to the detriment of the overall taste.

Another widely available version worth trying is the Professor Fritz Briem 1809:

:astonished: Blackberries? I hadn't heard about either of those. Completely sold on Tidal Disruption. If it is anything similar to Imperial Blackberry Bu From DeGarde, I can guarantee you that I will be buying a ton of it. Hopefully they get a higher yield than they did with the Peach. Orbital Drift will probably be along the lines of Jolly Pumpkins' Madrugada Obscura, which also another fave O' mine.

Have they given a timeframe for the release of either of those?

I don't know the release on either one, but the labels have been made. Google it if you're curious to see them. I think orbital drift is going to be next though. Then Tidal Disruption.

I have also heard rumors of a gooseberry version in the future. I don't know how much truth the rumor was though.

Interesting. Down here in Philly it's incredibly easy to find many examples of BW. I'm surprised that it would be so hard in NJ.

Quite a few are available in NJ or have recently been available as seasonals, several of which are brewed locally.

    Demented Belladonna
    Ramstein Berliner Weisse
    River Horse Cherry Berliner Weisse
    Carton Monkey Chased the Weasel
    Dogfish Head Festina Peche

Peekskill Simple Sour is along the lines of a Berliner Weisse, though not brewed exactly to style. I also see The Bruery Hottenroth on the shelves quite often. I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of.

Considering it was a near-dead style in US craft brewing just a few years ago, how many more do you want?

It didn't get a ton of love on BA and it's a tad pricey, but I enjoy Perennial's peach berliner

Over the NY border at Cable Beverages you can get this one:

BrauBaker- it's the best one available in our area, and includes brettanomyces as part of its profile. Great stuff!

I just saw a label for Apricot Vista from Schell's. Keep an eye out for that sometime soon! That'll be delicious I'm sure

Not sure if it's been mentioned on here yet, because I am too lazy to look, but Westbrook makes some great Berliners.

Brew your own...they are very simple and many don't even require a boil. I create "mother" fermentors with a variety of lacto strains and reuse the yeast/bugs for several batches...once my last batch is about to be finished I bottle/keg the next one and brew up the next batch all in the same day. Takes a chunk of a day but is worth it to keep me in Berliners

Here's a great site with excellent info on bugs and brewing... http://www.milkthefunk.com

J Wakefield Brewery in Miami has some of the best sours, anywhere. Nothing I've ever tried even comes close to his Miami Madness, DFPF, + Haterade sours.

+ hello, everybody. This is my first post

Um. I can say without a fact I have an easier time finding a Berliner Weisse in the Us than In Berlin.
