Park City, Utah - Bottle Shops and Bars

    Hello everyone, I'm going to be out in Park City for the next two weeks for Christmas and was curious of some of the local places for drinks and any good bottle shops to visit. I was hoping to score some big bad Baptist but have no idea if its in season or how often they brew it. Any local suggestions are greatly appreciated. Cheers and thanks!!

    Big Bad Baptist should be plentiful at the state liquor stores. If not, just go to Epic brewery - they usually have variants of the BBB there. I'm not familiar with the drinking scene in Park City but if you're in Salt Lake, stop at Beer Hive, Beer Bar, or the Bayou. But to tell you the truth, the craft beer scene isn't the greatest thing in Utah. You should just put your energy on skiing or exploring it's other nature beauties.

    thanks for the info! yeah I figured the craft scene wouldn't be as nice as it is here in mass. Excited to ski for sure!

    While in Park City, see if you can score some Furlong Bourbon Barrel Imp Stout at RedRock. It sold pretty fast, there may still be some left for sale out there. http://utahbeer.blogspot.com/2015/12/new-beer-friday-121115.html
    Not sure what the bars are stocking in Park City right now. There are four breweries - Wasatch, Park City, Squatters, RedRock. If you make it into SLC hit Beerhive, Beer Bar, Bayou, Whiskey Street, Desert Edge, Epic Brewing (the Annex), Shade of Pale, Avenues Proper, Uinta Brewing and if you're into ciders try Mountain West Cidery.

    BBB should be around. Here's a few tips about beer in UT

    Everything on tap is 3.2

    Everything in the grocery store is 3.2

    Everything in the liquor store is warm but it's the only place to get real beer.

    The selection in the liquor stores pretty much blows compared to most states. We get Lagunitas and finally some Balast Point started showing up a few months ago. FW is available as well along with the typical Deschutes, Sierra Nevada, etc. There is nothing special coming out of UT in terms of beer except for BBB. Everything else is middle of the road at best.

    For beer bars there is jack shit in PC. You have to go to Salt Lake. High West is the place to go for some culture and they bought pallets of the Lagunitas High Westified when it was released so you can get that there.

    Everywhere else literally has the same selection of beers as what's available In the liquor stores as they have to buy from the liquor stores as well.

    Park City is rad except for the beer. My fridge is full of some great stuff so drop a line when you're out and we can maybe share a beer or two.

    Thanks for the advice...I'm heading home today actually but tried a decent amount. Wasn't able to visit many shops / bars. The skiing was unbelievable though and will be back.

    From what I had, epic was the highlight. Tried their doppelbock which was nice. Elephino dipa also nice. Wasatch devastator a solid beer as well. The best beer of the trip came from the green pig bar in salt lake city, ninkasi vanilla oatis was fantastic. Was excited to have since Mass gets none of their distribution.

    All in all a great trip and great places to see but as the above mentioned, I'm spoiled with NE beers. Till next year.

    In all seriousness, does High West serve beer as well?
