No, British Milds weren't/aren't made from second runnings. Most were brewed entire gyle or parti-gyled with Old Ale. But even when parti-gyled they weren't made from all second runnings.

Schwarzbier. Kostritzer makes a fantastic one but I'd like to see more! Happy Gordon Biersch made their own but now that I've moved I can't get it as easily anymore.

What you want is Firestone Walker Pivo Pils or Sixpoint Crisp (if you can find them fresh).

    Cheers

traditional Belgian Golden ale for me- not these American-ized versions with higher alcohol or tons of hops. It seems like the simple, yeast forward, pilsner malt and simple sugar, low ibu versions are hard to come by these days outside of the norms. in Belgium. (Affligem blonde, leffe, Achel blonde, etc.)

I love the session-ability of the style and the complexity the Belgian yeast brings to a simple brew. Love this style!

A nice Franconian-style (i.e. quite bitter) Dunkles Märzen. Or a 12º Polotmavé Pivo. Any sort of Polotmavé, really. 10º, 11º, 12º, 13º, 14º, 16º or 18º. No. 3 Scotch Ale. KKKK. Golden Barley Wine. There are so many unglamorous styles no-one can be arsed to brew.

Ron, maybe the new BJCP style guideline with the inclusion of Czech Amber Lager may inspire more US craft breweries to take a crack at this style?

Have you ever had Notch Brewing Company's Polotmavy?

Notch Polotmavý was just released again yesterday for the season, draft only, 12P and 4.4% ABV. Was fun to see our 10ºP Světlé, 12ºP Polotmavý and 12ºP Černé all on draft at Lord Hobo for the release.

That's a very tempting line up. A shame I'm the wrong side of the Atlantic.
