    Joke man, joke.

But for real, good luck. The releases that are through TWCP are tough to land because it involves spending lots of $ over a long time at TWCP (or getting very lucky with their new POS system). Unless your cellar is very deep, this will be a tough land.

Word. Sorry for the hostility. I was thinking of starting with Snowed In and Cycle Hazelnut....and go from there.

I'm from VA and am stopping by Side Project tomorrow. Can I buy bottles to go in their taproom? I see they have a cellar but I can't tell if that's only for in-person consumption. Thanks!

Share a bottle of Derivation 4 with a friend and sit back. You will not be disappointed.

There are bottles of Grisette to go (2 bottles per person). Bottles on the cellar list are for on site consumption only.

Swung by on my way into town and splurged on Derivation 4. Great beer, reminds me of 2010 BCBS Vanilla (with 5 years age on it, never had it fresh). The vanilla is present without being front and center like Vanilla Rye or Madagascar. Perhaps a little undercarbonated for my tastes, and pretty sweet - was hard to get through a full 750 with my girlfriend. Should really split with 3-4 people. Is it worthy of some hype? sure. Is it worth the trade value that all these Derivation bottles seem to have? No. Have yourself a bourbon county and call it a day. If this beer is any better, it's by a very slim margin.

YMMV but I don't care for much carb in a big barrel aged stout. The thick, creamy, chewy mouthfeel is what makes a great stout, IMO. The oily legs that run down the glass prove a maticulisly long brew process and time in oak. I also find that barrel characteristics enrich the sweetness and enhance the flavors. There are not many stouts out there that have all those traits. TG BA stouts are in the same league. Some BA stouts may not be for everyone but the rarity also plays a part in the chase. It may just be Midwest bias but I've had a lot of BA stouts and I find that TG and SP are doing great things above others.

Ignoring crazy stuff like Utopias, I'm a strong believer that beer should have at least a little head when poured. No head just makes me think of failed homebrew attempts to bottle condition. If it wasn't such a well regarded series brewed by Side Project I think you'd have more people questioning the level of carb and considering it an error :grimacing:

If Cory wanted carb, he'd carb it...

Schlafly Bottleworks is less than a quarter mile from the SP cellar. Check it out online.....they have some good food and brews.

Reed's American Table and Acero are right by Side Project and fantastic (only open at night though) For something more casual try A Pizza Story or Schlafly Bottleworks as they are close as well
