Yea and apparently one person made off with all 9 VRs that they had. That receipt is nuts - someone dropped $3871 on BCBS all at once.

Realize I'm late to the party but anywhere in Central Jersey/Jersey Shore to get this? I'm not desperate to have it but would like to try it if its available somewhere

My assumption was it was an out of state shop owner who's going to flip these at a ridiculous markup. I'm hoping no one actually spent that much on BCBS for their own consumption, but who knows.

There are plenty of wall street types that regard $3871 as ashtray money unfortunately, so it os possible.

There are no wall street types that are driving there with a truck mid-day on a Tuesday.

Drop that much at a grocery store, and my guess is they'll work with you on the getting the stuff home.

This is definitely true. They may pay a task rabbit to do so though.

I mean, it isn't a bad investment. Easily can flip that $3871 on secondary market for way more.

Still trying to understand the purpose of that store putting a customer's receipt on their Instagram. Not sure what that is doing other than making their other customers upset..

I went to the hotel bar at The Carlton on Madison and they had some Bourbon County on tap for $9....in a pint glass. Had a few while staying there last week.

Because to them, landing a sale like that is like us lucking out and finding an awesome beer. And bc their idiots and like to rile people up.

Definitely this. Looks like they actually pulled the photo from instagram. That store is the worst; unfortunately it also seems to have one of the best selections in the city.

It's funny how most stores are worried about spreading rare bottles around to make their customers happy and this jerkoff is gloating about dumping all his inventory one one customer. Then puts #beeradvocate on the post, hilarious. Enjoy your one customer, I'm done shopping there.

Agreed, most places would see it as a mistake what they did. It's 2015. The chase already happened and stores all over were doing limits. They easily would've moved the product, even with limits. Did they really think they somehow won out on that long term by just selling to one customer?

Would reallly like to understand how this went down. Did they know they had one person to buy this stuff and they sold to them? Did they put it out on floor and someone happened to come by and decide to buy all of it? Real d-bag move to sell all of their stock to one person. And if it turns out someone is going to resell all of it and they knew that, they should never get any more BCBS.

I think this actually has been the best year for BC releases in recent times here in NYC. Some highlights...

More variants on tap at more places than I can ever remember. I was surprised how many places had Regal on tap (some of which even offered growler fills!). I'm sure other places in 2014 had Vanilla Rye on tap, but outside of Top Hops, it was scarce. A good amount of places got BCBCS on tap this year too.

A nice flow of the variants being released over a fairly lengthy period of time. Last year in particular, if you struck out on Vanilla Rye at Top Hops, it was difficult to find a bottle. This year, if you struck out one place, it sure seemed like there was another place later that day or the next day after that did a release.

The Barleywine sat around longer this year than any other prior year that I can remember.

And of course, there has been plenty of regular to go around, which has been a huge bonus this year with how good it is.

My only 2 quibbles really are a.) it did not seem like a city of NYC's population received enough Rare and I personally don't like the raffle route many places went and b.) BCBCS bottles were harder to come by. I'm sure the format size is to blame somewhat, and I know coffee has always been limited, but in the past you could get 2-4 bottles at most places.

A novel thought...why doesn't Goose Island use fewer barrels for the barleywine and produce more coffee instead? There is clearly a supply/demand differential between the two.

The barleywine is from second use barrels. They could make as much as they wanted and not affect coffee supply.

In case anyone was looking for more barleywine...

I always wonder how this place pulls off getting so much quality stuff.
