It seems to be the time of year where there is thread after thread talking about the best pumpkin or octoberfest beer. Yes here is another one, but this is different. I want Michigan and maybe Ohio local only. So no Pumpking or Punkin or anything like that. We have enough threads about those anyway. Lets see what we can get from out locals....

So who all has a Pumpkin beer and which one is the best?

I've had Ichabod and though it was ok, not a ton of pumpkin flavor though from what I remember, its been a couple years. La Parcela No1

I also had the Jolly Pumpkin La Parcela No1 last year. That was good, but the same thing didn't get a whole ton of pumpkin and tasted a lot like every other JP beer I've had. Not that that's a bad thing.

Screaming pumpkin, Never had it, should be gone as that was the now defunct MBC correct?

How about tap/growler only? I did a little searching and maybe Bastone has one? Dragonmead? I can never seen to find a current taplist for Bastogne though.

Just had a Southern Tier's Pumking last night, and I must say it is by far my favorite pumpkin tasting beer.

Fat Head's Pumpkin Chucker Chocolate Stout and Spooky Tooth Imperial Pumpkin Ale are great (on-tap/growler)

Hoppin' Frog Frog's Hollow Double Pumpkin is pretty good (bottled)

I figured id probably give it another shot anyway. I know palates change all the time. It wasn't a bad beer at all, I just didn't get a lot of pumpkin from it thats all.

Arcadia's Jawjacker Ale is on store shelves now. It never gets any love on this site, but I put it into an average category. I haven't tried this year's batch yet to see if maybe the new head brewer at Arcadia has tweaked it.

HF is doing a Barrel Aged Frog's Hollow. I'm pretty excited to get my hands on that one.

I find pumpkin beer to be nasty and most oktoberdfests to be boring.

Does Bruery bourbon-barrel Autumn maple make it to Chicago/Milwaukee?

I may have to check that out, I was on their site looking but I didn't see anything yet. I need to get over there. It looks like they have some good beers.

Maumee Bay Brewing(Toledo) makes a pretty good pumpkin ale. A buddy of mine thinks it's the best one he's tasted, I tend to agree. Not too much of anything, nicely balanced.

Another one that I forgot about is Jolly Pumpkin's Old Mission Peninsula location. I was there during the Fall of 2010 and they had one on tap, so I'll assume they brew it every year. It's not the regular JP pumpkin ale (La Parcela?) but one that is brewed on site there and served only at the pub. It's the best pumpkin ale that I've ever had, hands down.

Hmm, I wonder if they do it at the Ann Arbor location too. Thing is I can never find a tap list for any of their locations, so it makes it hard to go for something specific unless their having some kind of an event.
