Yeah, it was a cool to meet up with another BIFer! Always happy to help someone tick some wants when I can. The offer still stands if you ever want to sample the Wine Barrel Noir.
I'm pretty sure I'm not a hipster but I am in Portland right now and it is brunch time so this seemed fitting. In pretty lucky that @core42 is such a generous guy because I don't think I would've landed this otherwise. Up there with mbcp for sure, and the sweet vanilla bourbon notes are a really nice dimension. After I finish this up I'm headed to hair of the dog and then when I get back home I'm gonna crack into my 12 days of Christmas beers. Shaping up to be a soggy day.
#vbs cause why not been Savin these for tonite!! Now to get drunk an wait for mrs. Clause hehehehe Merry Xmas y'all
Received my box today from @Fallingcycle and it was a beauty. Will put **** tomorrow cause no time with everything going on. Merry Christmas to all of yall and please be safe.
Started out earlier today with That's What She Said from the 12 days BIF from @JNForsyth. Decided to finish the day with another beer from Tree House-Green. This one from @Homebrew in round two. Big fan of everything I've been able to try from Tree House.
Time for the next round of the CIF (Cushion It Forward)! Invite list: Obviously anyone in the Summer Newbie BIF 2015 is encouraged to participate. I'll open this up to lurkers as well. The only requirement is at least 5 trades and 100% feedback. In the spirit of the Newbie BIF anyone with less than 5 trades or with less than 100% feedback is welcome to join with a veteran sponsor. Veteran lurkers are also welcome. I will ask that you only sign up if you are committed to keeping the #CIF going. The beer: In an effort to keep the #CIF moving along I'm going to limit the beer to a 6-8 bottle shipper with a range of 100 oz. to 152 oz. of 85+ Rated beer, or 4.1+ rAvg if there are too few scores for a rating. Beer must be from outside your target's distribution. How it works: If you want a chance at these red chair cushions all you have to do is send me a BM titled "#CIF I'm in!". Include your name, full shipping address (work or home?), phone number, email address, and your Untappd name (optional). Let me know about any shipping date restrictions and style preferences. I will close down sign ups on Friday, January 1st . I will choose a BA at random (randomizer) and ship within that following week. Rather than announce the recipient I will ninja the box out. The lucky BA who is surprised by Chad's cushions will add their BA handle and location to the cushions with a permanent marker. At this point the sign ups will start over and anyone who hasn't received the #CIF box is eligible. If we get to a point where no one signs up then I become the target by default. Cheers everyone!
Wanted to share this with my Summer Newbie group as well, On December 16 my best friend, Joe Zyskowski, was diagnosed with a rare inoperable form of liver cancer. He has a long tough road ahead of him but he is a fighter. We have started a Go Fund Me site for Joe to help offset some of the costs. As part of this effort to raise money those who donate will have an opportunity to win one of four groups of beer. In exchange for each $5 donated to the gofundme site (https://www.gofundme.com/uzg4amtj), you will be entered 1 time to win one of the 4 groups of beer. This means that if you donate $50 to Joe's cause, you will have 10 entries to win one of the groups of beer, $100 donation will get you 20, and so on. Please tag #Joe in your donation so we can track if you want entry into the giveaway. I know this is a season we have all spent a lot of money on already but I am asking for your help with this to help Joe and possibly help yourself win some really good beer as well. The cutoff for entry is 1/8/2016 and the randomized drawing will be shortly thereafter. For reference, the groups are listed below... Good morning gentlemen. As we go into next year, I was curious if any of you have any beers that are on your wishlist for 2016? I know for some of the more experienced traders/BA's this list may be short, but for a newbie like me, there's a whole range of breweries that I'm excited to try for the first time. Hopefully we'll embark on a Round 3 and maybe some of the wishlist beers could possibly be hit.
For me it's Grimm (anything). I'm hearing great things about them, and have yet to try one. I'd also like to get ahold of MBCP and Morning Wood from Funky Buddha. I've had several of their shelf beers as well as Last Snow, and am continually impressed with their creativity!
For me it's a few breweries I haven't tried yet rather than specific beers: Fiddlehead, Hill Farmstead, Cycle (stouts), Funky Buddha, and Trillium (ok, I had one Trillium beer -- DDH Fort Point -- but based on that alone, I really want more).
@Homebrew FTFY = Fixed This For You, when you see that look to the quoted part and find what's been changed, usually in a humorous way. @Yourahoser my list has been shortened mostly to walez, as a direct result of the insane generosity of the BIF community. Some time back, probably about a year ago, I put out a similar thought experiment "What breweries that you've never tried anything from would you most like to?" (everyone feel free to answer this as well as Chad's inquiry). I listed about 12 of my own... in under 90 days that 12 was down to 1 (I don't recall which, but I'm sure it's been ticked since). I haven't thought through that same idea again with any veracity, but honestly I can't even think of many that would still make that list. Now, you're asking about specific beers, so of course there's plenty, but even then the list is mostly pretty elite stuff. Of 'regular' stuff I'd mostly be interested in completing "Tick a beer from every style", "Tick a beer from all 50 states", and "Tick a beer from 50 countries", all of which get much more difficult the closer to completion you get.
