I would not do it if it was a BOGO.

Rapids liquor in **** rapids had only ordered a case as of late week. I was lucky enough to snag the last ack. If anyone else knows a spot for this four deres seasonal, please do share.

If your in the mood, Rapids Liquor has a great selection. It is updated almost weekly and it's the culmination of a local brewer in the wort hogs of anoka. Great guy, knows what he's doing. Give it a shot.

I had this on Christmas eve, and thought it was incredibly bland. Very light chocolate flavor, and virtually no bourbon notes on it. Think I paid $18, and it was a massive letdown in my opinion.

I've drank more Xocoveza than any other beer the last month and I passed on it based on the feedback I've seen. Stellar reviews, but the folks I trust that have had it have told me 6 regular > 1 charred.

If you can point me in the direction for a 6 pack or two, please message me. I have been kicking myself all December for only buying 1 6er. Terrible decision.

I would probably pick up a bottle every year if it was priced under 10 but how that beer is priced over 20 is beyond me, especially when cases of it sit on shelves everywhere.

I would try calling France 44, they had cases of it when I was there a couple weeks ago.

Classic move, instead of just marking it $18/bottle, you mark it up to $24 and make it a BOGO. Move two bottles for $36 instead of one for $18.

I've seen this marked down to $14 before in the burbs and I bought at that point, maybe they'd sell more at a reasonable price?

But it's vintage beer! Shouldn't that justify the markup?!

Vintage because no one bought it last year either, haha.

One liquor store owner I talked to said he only gets smoke and pentagram because he doesn't want to get cut off from buying darkness. I'm sure that's the case most places.

    Classic car salesman technique!

I believe it gets as low as $10. I'm in for that, then I'll try to sell them next year on CL for $40 right?

This makes the most sense. Surly jacks up the price to vendors, because they want to be compensated for the longer than average amount time it sits in their fermenter. Store owners feel obligated to buy it because they want Darkness. Customers laugh at the price. Store owners get creative to try to not take a loss.

I've had 2 bottles of Pentagram. 1 was received as a gift. I purchased the other because a guy I was trading with wanted to try it. Why would anyone buy this for another reason? You can get a comparable Rodenbach's flemish for 40% of the price.

Because it's a really good beer; that's usually why I buy them. However, it's sad but true that Pentagram is horribly overpriced. I, too, haven't bought a bottle in a couple years unless it's been requested by a trade partner.

That said, the batch #1 Pentagram are drinking fantastically right now!

Hmmm, I thought it was 2012 too, but the earliest reviews are from early 2013. So I guess they're going on three years at this point.

It is good beer. I won't debate that. Pentagram just drums up a 'designer vs generic' sentiment for me (and probably a lot of other beer buyers). Why pay $20 when you can get something comparable for under $10?

I will also add that the pentagram artwork is just cool as hell, though that doesn't make the beer any less overpriced.
