Give me one from the Midwest, and one National brand. Can be from any year.

National: Stone Crime - I was really stoked to try this with a buddy who loved peppers and smoked beers, but it ended up being a drain poor. It was thick and just unbearable.

Midwest: Barrel Aged Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat - There was no barrel, and just a dash of cinnamon. I expected a massive beer, but was given a fairly thin style that, in my book, barrel passed for "barrel aged".

Midwest: Barrel Aged Double Black. I know I'm in the minority here, but I thought it was terrible. We drain poured half the bottle. Tasted like drinking high fructose corn syrup to me.

National: Mexican Cake. Idk, I had high hopes for this but did not care for it. Too carbonated and turned it into a weird cinnamon carb-y mess.

A buddy and I shared a BA Double Black and while we didn't hate it completely, we had the same thought about it being corn syrup-y.

Locally: Any of the Noble Stars that aren't Starkeller. Just a bit ordinary I guess. They weren't bad, but didn't do much for me, especially at the price tag.

    Also Hefewheaties...wtf.

Nationally: Dark Lord. Woof, I knew people who joked all the time about it being sweet, but holy crap, it is insanely sweet to the point where it just overtakes all other senses. Was not even that good to me.

I almost used Dark Lord for mine. First had it fresh this year. Nasty stuff.

Man...I never got the hype on the hefewheaties. I'm glad I never sought it out.

Wootstout for me. Heard good things about previous batches but never tried them. Bought 3.0 and it was just thick and sugary.

Surly Nein was also near the top. Worst anniversary brew from Surly yet, IMO.

National: Barrel-aged Narwhal. I was SO excited about it, and then when I had it, it was a let-down. It still was a good beer, but for what I paid for it ($25 a bottle), I was disappointed. Regular Narwhal is a much better value (almost a steal).

Upper Midwest (ok, I'm stretching it a bit far east for this) was Founder's Harvest Ale. I do not get the hype for it; especially given the price, and that you have to somewhat scramble to get it.

Ok, a third...although not hyped, I thought Brau Brother's 3 Hundred Yard Dash was awful. A total malt-bomb...and no date on the bottle for me to know if it was fresh...fail...

Midwest, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Vanilla Bean Buffalo Sweat Brewed With Cinnamon. The name is the only impressive thing about it. Too much cinnamon and the combination of flavors just does not work. Unpleasant, I called it.

National, Founders Breakfast Stout. Surprisingly one-dimensional for a "world class" Imperial stout.

I am not a coffee drinker, but I love FBS. However, I agree with MNAle, it is rather unidimensional. That doesn't seem to hurt its position in the Top 250, though.

This beer wasn't too hyped but the brewery sure is...

TG Naughty 90 was a drain pour for me this year. Love almost everything that comes out of TG, but that stuff was just gross.

Locally: Steel Toe Size 11. Seems as though I'm in the minority, but I was not a fan of this years batch - I'll give it another shot next year.

National: Toss up between Stone W00tstout 3.0 and Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA. W00tstout was just a hot mess for me...and perhaps I'm just hot a fan of triple IPAs...

I second the Mexican Cake. Had heard a lot about it, didn't come close to the hype. Tried it in a blind taste test (again mega thanks to the KC guys) along with Abraxas and Huna and it was clearly least liked of the 3 by everyone.

LOL. I wanted to try this so bad and never got the opportunity. Maybe that was for the better.

Surly Pentagram has never done anything for me. Also there past few anniversary beers have been weak.

Nationally, just about every beer from Stone for me has been extremely lackluster, most recently Xocoveza Charred.

    Midwest: Todd the Axeman

    National: Anything Alpine (so far)

Don't get me wrong, Todd and the Alpine stuff I've had were definitely enjoyable brews, but not the sweet nectar of the gods people describe them as.
