guess you have figured a way to have a fridge always by your side, neat trick! most of us in our past have enjoyed forties out and about with a brown bag with it warming tremendously as we make our way down the bottle.

Couldn't agree more. The few that have done it (DFH, The Bruery, FFF, Voodoo, Full Sail) have done a great job. Wouldn't be a big seller in their year-round line-up, but as a limited summer seasonal might do well enough. And if you are going to brew a malt liquor (and bottle it), the 40oz bottle seems like the only way to go.

The 40 is too big for most individuals, but quite appropriate for sharing. Since most beer is consumed on an individual basis, the 40s would likely sit on the shelf and age.

There's threads on here with people bitching about bombers and 16oz cans being too big. Now this guy wants bigger bottles?

    :grinning:

Well, I have noticed a trend where they are at least putting some of their higher end beers in four packs of 12oz bottles that were previously available only in bombers... and overpriced. My experience has been that the four packs are about the same price as one bomber, so about twice the beer for the same price. I honestly believe that the bomber format was an attempt to woo the wine-snob crowd but has met with limited results so they're coming back around to the format us beer drinkers prefer. Interestingly though, I now see wine in four packs of single serve bottles, very convenient... maybe the vintners are going after the craft beer crowd... it's working for me...

Some people are really over thinking this question. It would be cool to pass around a 40 of Sierra Nevada Nooner or Sunshine Pils.

I swear I've had it, but it's just not the same... The CH bottle and "artwork" was really cool.

A 40 would be a great splitter of a brew----love 22's personally.....enough to share with the little lady and still get more than the Belgian rip off of 11.2 oz.....it's like what---a wafer' theen taste o' brew????!!!!

Although I do like the idea of higher ABV beers or bourbon barrel aged stouts or whatever the hell they are bourbonizing these days in pony bottles.

Why not forties? Why not pounders? Why not tallboys?

40oz is just too much for one person in one sitting in one vessel. Would rather toss back a few 12oz bottles/cans that will come out of the fridge cold when I want them too, instead of having a 40oz bottle sit out and warm while I'm pouring it out and drinking into it.

I'd be all for it in regards to beers that I planned on sharing and if the $/oz was better.

This reminds me, does Lagunitas still make the quarts of Sucks? I liked them but seems I was one of the few. Seems like all I've seen around here is the six packs of 12 oz bottles, lately. But I haven't been particularly looking for the 32s, either.
