I was able to spend a little time there after a good day at the beach and got to try everything they had up. A lot was good with a few misses (the fruit stuff). Each Thursday they have a new/interesting cask up, which is cool, but the one I had was an Imperial Red with chocolate and peppers and was too peppery for me. All in all I had a great time and enjoyed the selection and atmosphere. I got a growler of Bunker C porter, which they are bottling soon a bourbon version. I will seek this out seeing as the normal Bunker C is very flavorful and very good.

    Has anyone been there before?

    What was your experience?

I was just there in July with my girlfriend while vacationing in OCMD. They had some decent stuff; I tried everything they had on draft at the time, too. Nothing world class but it was certainly a nice place to check out. Loved the atmosphere. I'm sure we'll be going back each year when we're down there.

Love it. Live in Salisbury so I do not get there enough for my liking. Their Rude Boy is my favorite. Hugs and Nugs on cask was pure bliss....Limited Bunker C for sale this Sunday at their 1st anniversary party but you have to have an advance ticket to buy.

I checked this place back in April/May and enjoyed my time there. Liked how with their tasters I was able to try pretty much everything they had. My standout from the day which many people were getting growlers of was "Rob's Wife".

Looking to go back in a few months.

I went there a few months ago and was very pleased. Unfortunately I only had time to try a couple beers but the ones I did have were good, and they had a lot available. The Bunker C was quite good, and I found the Hugs And Nugs to be perfect for sitting outside watching the water. I'm also a big fan of the Hydroflask growlers they have.

This place is my rainy day contingency plan on vacation next week. I mean I hope it doesn't rain but I'm looking forward to checking out Burley Oak if it does.

^thats my plan next week as well. If it rains I'll be hitting up Evolution and Burley Oak. We are vacationing in Dewey. Saturday to Saturday.

Went on a Burley Oak/Evolution trip back in July (beach? what beach?). Had Hugs & Nugs, Bunker-C Porter, and Rude Boy (which I ended up purchasing a growler of). Solid beers and a great atmosphere. Bryan Brushmiller, the owner, was there and warmly greeted my wife and me (and just about everybody else who walked through the door) and even introduced my non-beer drinking wife to the Rude Boy, which she liked (!). Took the interesting and informative if short tour (the place is small) conducted by Mr. Brushmiller. It's a few hours away from us but we'd definitely go back. We might even go to the beach next time!

Also, right around the corner from Burley Oak is downtown Berlin, a small town with some nice eateries and shops and even a wine bar serving Maryland made wines. Lots of fun all around.

Cool note on their website... In addition to their free Saturday/Sunday tours, they also do free tours on rainy summer days. There's a 60% chance of rain on Tuesday so that might work well for me.

Does anyone know if they fill other breweries' growlers?

When I was there I saw them filling other growlers. Might not hurt to give them a call though to double check before you lug them down with you.

Funny, I am going there this morning and posted the same question on their Facebook page, when I hear back I'll report, but glad people saw them with other growlers.

Who vacations in Dewey?! That place is a mad house on the weekends. Spent many summer weekends at our group beach house there in the 90's.

I worked summers in Dewey from 95-99, can tell you that the weekends suck, but the week days are great. Though I did make a lot of cash on Friday and Saturday nights! Check out Gary's and Hammerheads for decent craft beer selections.

We do Saturday to Saturday in Dewey. First Saturday night is crazy. But then you are good until Thursday nights. It's the best of both worlds. Weekends are crazy weekdays are pristine. Keeps me young!

The whole town is walkable, you will never need a car while you are in Dewey itself. Both of those places are on Rt. 1, ocean side north of where you are staying a few blocks.

Take the Jolly Trolly into Rehoboth at least once, my favorite place that is not the Dogfish Brewpub is Henlopen City Oyster House, Chris, the owner has a great beer program, only about 10 taps, but they are top quality, and he always has a cask, he owns a couple of casks and sends them to various breweries, such as Green Flash, Stone, etc. to be filled (go off peak, this place is small and very crowded) they have excellent food too. Dogfish on Mondays and Fridays has the Randall. If you or the wife wants to head to the outlets, convince her to hit the far outlets with Ann Taylor, there is a pub there called the Pickled Pig Pub, they have great drafts as well.

^the wife is ALREADY talking about the outlets. Thanks again for the advice. I am excited to get Evolution again (I used to love in Salisbury).
