I forgot, you have THE master palate, and if somebody disagrees with you, their palate is way off. Thanks for the reminder!

TreeHouse crushes OH. But who doesn't TH crush?? It's the "watery" descriptor that is throwing everybody off. OH assaults your palate (in a great way) with flavor/hops. Can the mouthfeel be a little more "chewy"?? Sure....but watery it is not. In my personal opinion anyways.

So basically you're saying that because OH doesn't make IPAs on par with the brewery that, arguably, currently produces the best IPAs in the world, the beer is watery? Nobody in this thread said that OH was better than those breweries anyway, and I'm sure the general consensus is that OH is a (small) step below. That being said, the beer is still great and a far cry from "watery." It seems more likely that your palate is way off, and not the other way around, if you think that since nobody else in this thread has agreed.

Comparing treehouse isn't really fair but I have said other half single hop series has tasted very watery the first week after the release. It's Ny though and its the best we have so threads like this aren't helping anything, your just going to piss everybody off.

Had contemplated going to grab some cans, so glad that I did not. Ended up going to check out Sand City Brewing in Northport which opened in October. Tried Storm Born, Table Bier, Red Sand, Luca Baby, and Washed Up. First four were very solid, Washed Up was stellar. Heard that isn't even their best beer (Day Drifter). Good news for us Long Islanders who are uninterested in dealing with the OH releases.

I was maybe the 15th person in line and when they said they had a separate cash line I was the 4th person to get my beer. They didn't have anyway to regulate that so I'm sure a bunch of people without cash got shorted. They should announce it ahead of time so people knew they had the option. It was definitely the biggest line I've seen since street green. It was around the corner before doors opened.

Heard about this brewery recently, need to get my hands on some Washed Up, maybe a trip there tomorrow or this weekend. Thanks for the heads-up!

I agree, especially the next cans to be put on sale are very watery. So, everybody, don't bother to show up, the beers are watery.

Guys & Gals - I hate to break it to you, but he's right. OH beers are watery. In fact, every beer is watery. There's like 95% water in every can.

Day Drifter absolutely lives up to the hype. Remarkable flavor for a low abv IPA. Absolutely worth taking a trip to Northport to try it.

That said, this release wasn't as bad as most say it was. Yes, the line was long, yes, a register went down and they had to create a cash line, but, as with all releases, if you put in the effort and got there early, you got a full allotment. Whining about the amount you're able to buy when you show up at noon (or later) is hilarious.

what beers are you drinking from them? I have never had anything from Other Half that I would consider watery or over carbonated. their session IPAs definitely have more carbonation than any of their other styles, but thats expected with a session.

-All Green Everything is a massive fricken flavor bomb with appropriate carbonation (just drank my last can from the middle of august last night and still just as killer as day one)
-Green Diamonds is another flavor and booze bomb, also with appropriate carbonation from both batches i got my hands on.
-Citra and Cascade were a little less on the flavor than the above 2, but still appropriate carbonation and flavor for a standard IPA (non double)
-Street Green was just incredible, in every aspect and use of the word, nothing else i can say here. they did have some help, but still.... i.n.c.r.e.d.i.b.l.e.
-Small Green Everything was a session that tasted like a normal IPA but had the carbonation of a session. this is probably the closest beer i've had that fits your description, but still far from watery or over carbonated.
-countless other beers i've had from their taproom have never been watery or over carbonated.

even with my opinions above: i have heard people in the past complain about the water they use, saying it has a funny/metallic taste, but nothing about the lack of flavor.

IMO if me and 2 others drive up and they wait in line while I park.. Yeah that's okay but someone waking up at 930 friend in the front,.. That's lame

Been meaning to check this brewery out for a while now. I think I'll be heading up there tomorrow (if they are open?) or Saturday. I really want to try the Oatmeal IPA (can't remember the name).

I agree. I criticized other half earlier for doing the cash only line, but overall I thought it went smoothly. It was no where near a shit show.

Glad I'm in VT this weekend and picked up a case of Heady and Second Fiddle without issues while avoiding this release(as much as I wanted to try Superillo). Hungermoutain handing out tickets worked great and it's a system other breweries should consider if they haven't figured out a process.

It seems that when breweries release previously unleased IPAs that seem amazing, it draws a cluster f. I could just have short term thinking with this and TH's Juice Machine. Might just be the holiday weekend but I'm not so sure...

That said, are they easing off on the single hop releases? I hope some of the most popular brews(Citra, Mosaic, Nelson) would be in the regular rotation. Also, there are still some really cool hops they could release(Motueka, Barbe Rouge, Chinook, Azzaca)
@Kanger are they going in a different direction in 16'(super-) or is the single hops still part of their release plans?

I'm happy they made this release easier they had two lines. They eliminated walking through the taproom and you went right to the table to buy beer.
Yes a few people cracked a few in line which is fine as long as you keep it calm, concealed, and you're not an obnoxious asshole.

To be fair, some people who did arrive before opening did not get the full allotment. OH staff came out and told the people in line that they had a lot of cans and would get the full allotment they wanted. When the cash only line became common knowledge, which was at least 30 minutes after opening, people in line, including people in the back and newcomers rushed to the cash only line. This caused the some people to not get the original full allotment of Suparillo since the people originally in the back of the line or late arrivals got their cans. Maybe some got closed out too. This wasn't fair to the people who got there earlier and waited in line properly. Hope OH doesn't do the cash line in this manner again.
