These are the initial package beers, which will be available for pickup next week (with the exception of Les Ronces which was just noted). There are others that will be included later in the year. I imagine that they tasted the Scotch barrels and thought they tasted ready despite only being in for 8 months, or maybe they got the scotch barrels at the beginning of last year and wanted to make use of them for this purpose. Usually you dont want wet barrels sitting around for long so maybe they filled them when they got them, as opposed to when they usually get their fresh batch of bourbon barrels for the standard anniversary release.

I eventually did, just before 7. Guess it got stuck somewhere.

    6.1%, down from 7.7%. Interesting.

If they were able to keep the flavors and mouthfeel somewhat consistent i'd be psyched. One of my issues with the Bruery has been that so many beers wind up at the 10%+ mark. If they are actively trying to bring down abv while maintaining flavors I'll be a happy hoarder

I know many won't give a shit, and The Bruery certainly doesn't give a shit when they sell out of RS and have a waiting list for PS, but reasons like this are why I didn't renew after spending almost $3000 at The Bruery this year. Shitty customer service...

I emailed them about some bottle pickups for Sunday. I trustee for PS/RS member, plus I still have a bunch of stuff to pick up from my 2015 RS membership. I was going to go up on Sunday with a buddy who has a HS & RS membership, so he can bring a guest to Society events. I emailed society pickup and this was my reply:

    "Hi Matthew,

Thanks for reaching out to us! Unfortunately, the first week of January will be reserved to pickups of 2016 initial packages only, due to the extremely high traffic volume. We will not be able to accommodate any other pick up requests. Thank you for the understanding.

    Cheers,
    Tom"

Sorry Tom, there's no thank you for my understanding. Closed a whole week so you can give out a growler and a couple bottles of Mocha Wednesday? Also, where was my notice that this was going to happen? I didn't receive any email. It's not on any of your Facebook pages. Total crock of shit.

I'm glad my membership money will be put to better use with Modern Times. Everyone should be required to take a class from Jacob before they're allowed to open a brewery. Customer service is dead.

    (UPDATE)

So I guess they did say that only welcome packages can be picked up, but that email was only sent to 2016 members. That only reaffirms my shitty customer service point.

This was sent 3 days ago:
"You can pickup these beers in the Society Fulfillment Center at any time beginning Sunday. In fact, from Sunday, January 3 through end-of-day Sunday, January 10, we will only be fulfilling initial 2016 packages in an effort to make getting your new beer as seamless as possible."

Lets wager between HS and RS there are around 4000 members. Even if they are only expecting 25% of members to pop in this week, I'd say it generally takes 5-10 minutes on any given pickup. On the low end (5min*1000 members =5000minutes=83hours=Seven 12hour work days) they will likely be running round the clock.

No the world doesn't revolve around you

I think the point Iggy was making was that the email (as he stated) was only sent to 2016 members. So if you didn't renew you actually did not receive the information that you would be unable to pick up your allocations.

Fair enough but they responded in a timely manner and explained the situation. I am not sure what else they could do.

Even if they were trying to send out an "F this guy" message, he clearly stated he is no longer a member, and thus would be lowest on their give a damn list. Not trying to give him a hard time, but the entitlement is off the charts these days in Southern California.

    Happy New Year!

Good news - all of the included beers as part of your 2016 initial package - including Les Ronces - will be ready for pickup or delivery starting on Sunday! It was looking like we may not be able to get our new boysenberry sour blonde ale in the right place at the right time to begin fulfillment with the other included beers, so we erred on the side of caution with setting a different pickup / delivery date for it. The beer gods are smiling on us and it’ll be in the Society Fulfillment Center with the rest of them for Sunday.

We're super excited to kick on the 2016 memberships year with y'all.

    Cheers,
    Matt Olesh

Plans were already made, and since I'm no longer a member and not a big fan of The Bruery anymore, I don't have any future plans of going there. It's 2 hours each way for me to go there. My buddy already got a sitter. I already cancelled other plans on Sunday for me to go and close out my 2015 stuff.

I'm not being entitled. I'm calling out shitty customer service. There's zero reason with all the lines of communication that The Bruery has, that they couldn't make this information known to everyone. They're on Twitter, Instagram, several Facebook groups and have several different email lists. I get multiple emails every week about things going on in the tasting room. Hell, I even got an auto reply when emailing the society about slow response during the holidays. There's zero reason why they can't communicate this information to everyone.

I'm also not being entitled because I have to jump through hoops to pick up my beers that have already been paid for. I followed everything that is required of me. I bought the beers when available, I paid for the beers, I emailed the society and I had plans to go during normal open hours.

When it was almost immediately announced that this would be late, I was nervous that y'all didn't have your acts together. Now that you're announcing it'll be on time after all, I'm nervous that you rushed this beer before it was ready. I'm going to hold out hope that isn't the case, and I do believe that isn't the case. But I feel bad for you guys getting the year off on the wrong foot. That sucks given the challenges y'all had last year with Terruex beers, WC delays, etc. Woulda been nice to start off clean.

Still really looking forward to this year with you guys. It's my first as a RS member but I've been a fan for a long time (I have a good friend who is an HS member so I've enjoyed a ton of great Bruery beers over the last few years). I'm excited to finally officially be part of the club!

    Cheers!

Because you know... you are sounding really entitled.

You have an issue or complaint? Thats fine, but you are coming off as incredibly entitled. In this case, it appears that the Bruery didn't disclose through all applicable ways about their reduced pick up offerings. I'm sorry that has messed up your plans, since you put a lot of effort into doing this pickup, and you were not made aware of this through other channels can you ask them if they could make an accommodation for you?

Since SMM spans today and tomorrow this month, does that mean that the new allocations will be on today?

New allocations beers come out tomorrow.
Does anyone know if they are letting RS members who were previously PS members pick up older beers today? I emailed as well but not sure they'll be able to respond due to the madness I imagine is happening today.
