Alpine Singled Out --- all Galaxy IPA. Looks like NE IPA....smells like NE IPA....tastes like San Diego..To me -- this reminds me of the Noble Shower series --they seem to be NE IPAish but just finish too bitter to be of that ilk.

Love seeing Alpine branch out w/new brews and experimenting w new hops -- I really think the whole G-Flash thing was a blessing in disguise as it's resulting in so many new one offs. Can't wait for the Citra version!!!

With all the insane Northeast juicy IPAs, I can't taste west coast beers and consider them juicy.

I probably have not. I'm speaking generally of all the west coast IPAs available commercially on the east coast.

Is there a single juicy NE-brewed IPA that's commercially available in the West? If so please point me to one. Otherwise it seems that everyone, regardless of coast, needs to buy at (or very near) the source for said juicy/hazy/soft mouthfeel IPAs.

Not that this is a bad thing, but it makes direct comparison difficult. I personally found the Trillium beers that I had in Boston vs. the ones I brought back (same batch of bottles, stored refrigerated except on the plane) and tasted a week later were dramatically different. Could've been age, could've been travel, could've been pallet shift, etc... But the point being they didn't have the same gushing level of juiciness back home tasted 1-2 weeks later. Just my personal observations. Cheers

Alpine Nelson and Pure Hoppiness are my favorite West Coast (Juiciest) IPA's.

Your looking for a juicy IPA. I'd assume your looking for sweeter more malt forward brews, low bitterness, fruit forward. I suppose that might be the definition of juicy. Maharaja in an overly sweet malt bomb, tastes like its brewed with candied fruit. Most any Centennial exclusive or a beer that leans heavily to this hop. Two Hearted, Racer 5, Founders Cenrennial I suppose would fit. Jai Alai as well. All fairly tame on the bitter, light orange/ tangerine hits etc.

Noble Ale Works - Mosaic Showers (most of their hoppy beers are top tier; Tounge Tickles is amazing, but not really a juicy one. Citra showers was a bit underwhelming this year, I thought)
SARA - Simpleton (all their hoppy stuff is top notch. As good as anything in the East Coast. Very clean, crisp, tropical, fragrant)
Societe - The Pupil (amazing, juicy, delicious)
Alpine Nelson on Tap (not the GF version, which is a bitter, mediocre mess)
Fieldwork's - Terrace, Storm Surge, Saint Thomas
Cellarmaker's stuff (these guys are top tier, and they are making very rich IPAs)
Monkish - Citra Pale Ale (the belgian yeast helps the juiciness here)

I think Russian River and Beachwood are not really on juicy end, nor do they resemble the breweries you mention. They are also quite overrated, imo. Pliny on draft is amazing, but I've found their bottled hoppy beers underwhelming. Beachwood I simply don't get the hype for.

El Segundo and Highland Park are making amazingly fragrant and delicious IPAs, but they are a bit more on the dank, bitter end, rather than tropical, juicy one. People saying Lagunitas Sucks or Sculpin must have never had the beers mentioned by the TS.

Heck, forget out west, I ask if there's one of those NE-produced haze bombs available commercially across the Northeast? Trillium, Tree House, HF, etc., etc. are all brewery-only (with perhaps sparse keg distro). I'd love, love, love to see what month+ old bottles/cans taste like after sitting on some random (unrefrigerated, naturally) Total Wine shelf. And yet, somehow, we'll drink a two month old warm-stored can of Sculpin we found on said shelf and have no trouble crying, "Overrated!"

Ironically, it may very well be a West Coast brewery in Stone, with their upcoming Enjoy By Unfiltered, that takes the first crack at mass distribution of this style of IPA.

Almost. NE IPAs are not malt-forward. The malt is barely there at all. But somehow the IPA is still very fruit-forward simply from the hops used & brewing method.

Most dipas to my palate come off as a bit fruitier than most IPAs. They add more hops, but they counter it with more malt. So beers like Heady and the like come off as extremely balanced. I wouldn't consider most of the big NE Dipas ans IPAs to be stunningly bitter brews. Abrasive is a great beer, it smacks of grapefruit juice , but it's nicely balanced. Can be ordered on line from France 44.

Agree w/ the exception of Trillium -- JCs big DIPAs can still be rediculoisly Orange and grapefruit juicy. Artaic/Heavy Mettle/Vicinity -- to me I don't get the balance w those beers like you get w HT.

btw -- looks like SD juice machine Societe and Trill have got some love for each other -- would love to see this collab

unfiltered enjoy by will be great -- but IMO won't approach the NE IPA/DIPA style

Just off the top my first idea was just simply Jai Alai. Orange more than grapefruit, low bitterness for an IPA. Availability depends on where you live, but it's more regional than not.

Not taking into consideration the effects of travel, these beers certainly aren't made to stand the test of time and I can attest to that. One week under normal conditions I can see a slight difference, but not a dramatic one. But your points about what is commercially available on either coast is valid and a point I did consider after my initial post. Cheers!

you know, i'm older and sooo in the dark about the good and bad uses of technology that I never realized people here were doing that.when I want to show a beer it's for simple pleasure, if someone really wants to see it's true colors go out and buy it and pour it into a fuckin glass and look. stop doctoring pics!.
