Seeing as how some people are (smartly) using their friends/co-workers, I've decided to just play along for fun.

Curious who got yesterday's image correct. I went a bit deeper as the solar sail was developed by DLR and leveraged for the Earthguard study to create a cheaper spacecraft to monitor our orbit for hazardous materials which could potentially crash into earth (my thoughts on the scientific significance). Not sure if that was too specific, but I definitely called out the image as the functional model of the solar sail created by DLR.

I didn't say much more than "It's a solar sail. They propel spacecraft using radiation pressure."

I pretty much did the same as zeledonia...

my answer was essentially the same as cosmicevan's but as of yet I don't know if i got it right or not.

"It uses force from light particles to propel a small craft. err… waves…. or is it particles?"

This part made me laugh...

Yeah without a clue, this is really difficult, I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be thinking about

hmm... I suppose the main point here was that its used for propulsion.
But, your answer is indeed correct and while it doesn't get at what I was going for per say... I'll give you the point as you clearly did your homework on this one!

Identify what you are seeing and I think you'll be just fine

though I thought today's was vague when i saw it last night, it dawned on me this morning and I think I got it. However, I could be wrong as it was more of a guess, but isn't that what science is about; taking educated guesses.

Actually once I saw the answer I smacked myself in the head, because you're right I did completely miss the most significant use of the technology. I'm not upset at all - I'm having a blast. Thanks for the great LIF Cam, I know this has to be a ton of work on your end and those are some very generous bottles.

Agreed, this is the most work I have ever put in for some beer. Although laborious I am re-learning a lot and in some cases learning.

I am going to stick this out until I am mathmatically eliminated, which will not be long at this point.
Going to play fast and loose.

Sorry Cam, I remembered that science is not cool. Cheers!
