This better make it to MD. @WckdVbz, I'll keep an eye out as well. Since I know @Shroud0fdoom will want some too.

I immediately noticed that, too. I'm excited but at the same time, it almost feels like they are jocking Founders' style in a tiny way. But...I'm not complaining and it will be cool to see how it stacks up. Too bad this isn't coming out sooner because CBS will be on tap again at the Cellar Raid later this month (to get more of a real time comparison).

Anyone know why Evil Twin's labels state the "imported by 12 Percent" script when the beer is produced and bottled stateside?

Something tells me that's what they were going for.

They're the "supplier" much like the "importer" of a french wine, ET/winery is divesting itself of the transportation and import parts of the equation. Also who's to say that that label is only for the USA? They're going to the (sole) importer taking it back to Denmark, etc.

In wine you see this set up a lot more, there isn't going to be an "evil twin" sales rep either, whoever represents 12% will represent all of their brands (and potentially leverage them to make other sales in the book).

Pretty ironic that it's being brewed at Dark Horse since we don't see Evil Twin on this side of the state

Super excited for this one; hopefully distro carries it as wide as Even More Jesus/Aun Mas varieties.

Not sure where you're located, but it's all over West Michigan (Evil Twin). While I haven't seen some of the more limited stuff, I see it frequently at the stores I stop in. I'd even think some of the stores down in Battle Creek/Marshall/Pennfield would have it as well.

So if this is brewed, barreled, and bottled by Dark Horse.....are we crazy to think there will be that much more produced than say BBApt5? I mean...if they had the capacity and resources to distribute that widely why wouldnt they do it for their own? I very much so hope im wrong but thats just my first thought.

I'm not sure I quite understand the 'jocking Founders' style' comment, given that Blis is a local (Grand Rapids) business that's been doing hot sauces/syrups/rubs for a little while. I'm willing to venture a guess and say that Founders is not the only brewery to source Maple Bourbon Barrels from Blis (and likely others).

The key difference between Blis vs. others is that it appears that Blis has been aging their syrup in Bourbon Barrels longer than their competition. Either way, I'm thinking this is a GOOD thing if they source these barrels.

What's not to understand about my comment? Founders makes a wildy popular/sought after BA maple syrup flavored stout using very unique Blis barrels and now Dark Horse and ET are essentially doing the same thing.

I said a tiny part feels like they are jocking Founders style because of that....but that I'm not complaining and looking forward to see how it compares.

Dozens of other breweries are doing/have done maple bba stouts. It's an established trend by now so it's kind of silly to say they're doing it because they're jacking founder's style. You may as well say that breweries aging stouts in heaven hill barrels are jacking Goose Island's style.

I mean, Westbrook BA'd stouts, or Mexican Cake, or Gose for that matter, aren't sold in VA or DC, yet we get tons of Evil Twin stuff brewed at Westbrook. So kindly, yes I think you are misguided in that train of thought.
