I'm three beers deep into 2016. On Saturday 1/02 I had The Bruery Chocolate Rain, definitely not a drain pour. Today, 1/04, I'm having Anchor Porter and Ironfire Brewing 51/50 IPA, neither of these beers are drain pours.

There's a difference between peer pressure to finish your crap beer for sole purpose to get drunk as a teen/college punk, and sitting at home as a middle aged beer advocate today with a horrendous beer you don't like and a much better one waiting in the fridge and the fact you don't want to get drunk.

A bottle of Schell's Fresh Hop, but only because my friend fell asleep without finishing it last night.

I was just at a beer tasting with 36 different beers. One of the offerings was a "raspberry sour wild ale" or something like that from a Central New York microbrew. The 2 guys I was with were flipping out over it. I could see some of the guys working the event were hitting on it pretty consistently. It must had been very rare or something but I took 2 sips and dumped it. I could probably drink panther piss if you set it in front of me but I couldn't choke it down even though I can pretty much drink anything. Even other sours. I guess my pallet needs some work.

I dumped an entire 6-pack. I thought it was nearly undrinkable.

The Soulless chicken turned out okay, especially when mixed with some other junk and paired with a Tank 7....

Peppermint Victory at Sea. The peppermint was just to grassy or something , and didn't play well with the coffee. Started it cold and hoped it'd get better after some warmth, which it did a little bit. Just was really off to me.

Port Jeff Brewery--H3, which they claim is a Belgium style ale. I have 2 more cans--I think the beer will work well with mussels so not a total loss.

I'm kind of surprised by this because I've had Wooden Rooster at least once per month since June, and haven't had a bad can yet.

This is why I don't trust Founders when it comes to IPAs. I've had 5 different IPAs from Founders and all of them were so average, or below the curve, that I don't want to ever buy/try another one of their IPAs.

Could have possibly been an infected bottle.

if you ordered a filet at a restaurant that was quite expensive, medium rare with a side of asparagus, and they brought you out a burnt skirt steak with soggy fries,

certainly you wouldn't just eat it because you're hungry?

craft beer is expensive. overly expensive. When i purchase a craft beer, while i'm not expecting every beer to be a whale, i do expect quality. So when i get my product (see the steak reference) and it isn't how it should be (a somewhat quality beer), I DON'T CONSUME IT. At the restaurant, you'd send it back. Unfortunately, most bottle shops won't return a product based on the terms "the brewer had his head up his ass when he had the idea for this beer" so alas....

drainpour. There's too many other good beers in the cellar.

edit: first drainpour of the year: founders azacca. Rode a fine line between tangerine juice and stewed onions, the two not exactly complementing each other.

An unfortunate tale... on New Year's Eve I got dragged into going to a party where far too much awful beer (i.e., Natty Light) was consumed. The next day I thought I might try to revive myself with a fine beer, an Upslope Brown Ale. I poured it and took one sip, but my stomach was so weak that after a second I had to dump it. Alas that a fine beer was wasted because of my foolishness!
