Trying to understand the sudden hype and why the hell folks on the trade forums are parting with such monster beers, for stuff from this brewery.....Are they that good??

Took a look at their list of beers and the (very few) reviews seem just fine, but nothing out of this world.

    To each his own....

I've never even heard of them until around a week ago or so.

They make truly awesome beer (they were one of the better-kept secrets in Michigan) and just had their first bottle release. It happens.

The only reason Ive heard of them is I see kzoobrew check in to their beers on untappd and talk about them on twitter.

This Livery is a well respected brewery that had their first bottle release last weekend, if they continue to release bottles you'll be hearing more about them.

They got a lot of attention several years ago for a Bourbon Trippelbock, but other than that they fly under the radar. From what I've had they are a good brewery, but I wouldn't go crazy over these new bottles.

Small, small brewery. The only distribute kegs and they are limited. They make some very solid beers but the magic happens when they put it in barrels. I would say the most recent train started and the Michigan Brewers Guild Summer Beer Fest, they were largely considered to have stolen the show. They had another impressive showing at the Great Taste of the Midwest. Last weekend was their 7th Anniversary party and 10 different barrel aged beers were bottled and released.

If I need to accept blame for anything I suppose I will accept the blame for this.

Honestly though, I thought your post in the 'famous' for thread was perfect. Since I don't usually read the midwest forums, I'm pretty sure the only reason I'm familiar with the brewery is from your posts in various threads.

Until last week, I hadn't heard of them either and that's why I found it strange that stuff like KH, BA DL and BCBVS were being offered for Livery beers.

    Thanks for all the info!

Also, for my inability to find Two-Hearted mini kegs

Every beer I had at the party this weekend was amongst the best or most interesting for the style. I wasn't disappointed by anything. I opened a bottle of 5th Dimension on Sunday and it was fabulous as well (better at room temp than cold). Not typically one to add onto the hype train but The Livery deserves any kudos they receive.

While this past summer's MBG beer fest and GTOMW have been amazing showings for the Livery, Steve has been pouring awesome beers for the past few years at all the MBG Fests. The quality of these beers is nothing new to people who have payed attention. The quantity of these amazing BA beers is another story. Production is very small, so if you haven't tried them yet, it could be some time before many of them will be on tap or in a bottle again.

I had never heard about them until I made a business trip about two years ago to the area. As I always do, I looked up good beer places to go in the area. The Livery came up, and I ended up going two nights in a row. Very interesting and quality beers in a really cool brewpub. I'd love to get my hands on some bottles, but that probably won't happen.
