Hunahpu Day 2016

Excited to be attending this year, booked my flight this morning!

 

This will get totally fucked up... especially since the last time they told us not to come early, they sold dbh by the case.

 

As a local it continues to amaze me how many people fly into town, get hotels and possibly a rental car on top of paying for the tickets! Non-locals are paying closer to $600-$1000 for the same $100 a local is paying...
$100 for a tote, acrylic glass, some tapas food and the one of the best tap lineups you can find anywhere isn't that hard to justify as a local. Not to mention it's a blast going with other friends and trying beers that would cost you hundreds to trade for!
Can't. Wait. See you guys there...I'll be the non-bearded guy that still looks like he's 15!

 

I think there are valid concerns about moving 3500 people into the event in a timely fashion. My group arrived last year 20 minutes before the gates opened, as requested by CCB, and did not get in until 45 minutes after the event had started. It would have been longer had someone from not made the command decision (to their credit) to update how they were staging people to scan tickets.

I think it is fair to expect that this is addressed this year, as it was one of the small amount of issues in what was otherwise an amazing festival and bottle release. Here is to hoping they have at least doubled the number of ticket scanners (i.e. see sporting event six-lane entry type system).

 

This would be true if I was flying into TPA just for Huna Day. My girlfriend and I take a trip every month, so we made this our trip for March. We will stay right on the beach in Clearwater on Thursday and Friday, got a place in downtown Tampa Saturday and will go to the Yankees game on Sunday afternoon. Fly out Sunday evening for a nice extended weekend.

 

I lined up at 9 last year and if there is a "whale" you want to try you'll probably be lining up early to make sure you get to try it.

Then I don't expect to see you in line until 5 minutes before the event starts.

 

Huh? Since when does 5 minutes prior to event start equate to CCB requesting people not line up until 60 minutes prior to the event?

Last year, we arrived 30 mins prior to the event and were inside around an hour later. We ended up leaving an hour early, so it was no big deal for me. I can see how others would want to savor every moment, though.

 

Does CCB sell BA Huna at this event at all? If so how does that sale work?

 

They won't have any bottles for sale and it doesn't appear that BA Huna will be served at CCB's booth.

 

I keep hoping for a BA Hunah raffle a la Three Floyd's but it never happens.

You can look at all of the breweries that will be there on the Huna Day site, which will be updated as more breweries commit. The tap lists aren't up for very many of them, though.

There is no way any of those are full lists of what they will have on tap. They've been up for a awhile and will be updated repeatedly leading up to 3-12.

 

Hope to meet some of you guys there. Staying at the Marriott and hoping to do some sort of bottle share/bbq/pool party/etc. Headed down from St. Augustine.

 

So looking at FB MBCP day coming up, they have in their schedule a "pre-admission to a waiting area" 45 minutes prior to the GA start. Assuming the wait area is large enough, this should expedite people getting through the line(ticket/ID, etc.). I will report back after this weekend to see how it works out. Something CCB may have thought about or will implement...we shall see.

Surprised it took this long. Even with the $300 price tag. Can't wait!
