The first Smoking Wood reminded me very much of Captain Lawrence Smoke From the Oak: both very interesting blends of two flavors - smoky and sour - that you don't see combined very often.

I'm glad the ordering window is such that we can try most (all?) of the new allocation beers at the Initiation Party. Great timing!

Just amazing how fast they are popping them out.

Funker is still available at the provisions. I picked a bottle up today.

I know believe me. It is getting hard to keep up. If my wife only knew...oh wait...f##K!

Stoked for the bourbon smoking wood. Also stoked that the other two are beers I have no interest in so that saves me a truck load of money.

Yeah I really liked Mother funker more then I thought I would. I only got two bottles when it was on sale, might need to get some more.

My will power must be improving as I have no interest in getting any, though Marcoly was doing a good job convincing me to pick up some Sans Pagaie

And you're not. Hell, for one thing, it's unsettling to max out $100 or more on beers that nobody has tried yet. That's one element I didn't factor when signing up - no chance to sample the goods before buying.

Still, I'd do it again. Membership practically pays for itself before you buy the first bottle.

Oh man! These sound great. Can't wait to give these a try.

The Bruery is just killing it.

E-mail notifications just went out the other day. The Chocolate Rain allocations were part of the White Oak order allocations. Both White Oak and Chocolate Rain are now available for pick-up.

    Per the e-mail:

Has anyone tried Smoking Wood yet? Is it worth buying more bottles of it that they just released?

I preferred it to the rye, mostly because im not crazy on smoked malts, and I thought the bourbon barrels added a bit more contrast of flavor than the rye barrels did.

I tried it at the Reserve Society party but I really didn't care for it as much as the rye barrel aged version.

I think judgment must be reserved for the bottled version of Bourbon Smoking Wood... waiting to try it properly.
