My favorite thing ever right now is that I can watch this thread and actually have a chance to buy the beer (since it's actually making it's way where I live now).

Crossing my fingers for another shipment of lovelies soon..

Between their BA offerings, solid (and available) line of cans plus the killer fish series bombers safe to say Pipeworks has cemented their status as my desert island brewery, if I had to pick just one to take with me.

    Never change, @NOTpipeworks

I cracked one of this year's BA The Jones Dog over the weekend. That thing will put hair on your chest (or more of it, for some of us). I liked it, but definitely will hang onto my other bottle for a year or so to see how it goes. The prior year bottle that I had over the summer was awesome; this year's fresh one was not as good, but I think some time would do it good and allow it to reach those same heights.

Now to decide when to crack one of these 2013 12 oz'ers I just picked up.

O JOY. I hope I'm drinking fresh cans of this all summer 2016. So excited

Is it time to start lining up for BA Hyper Dog? :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, I love their beer. My favorite Chicago brewery. I just wish it was easier to find some of their BA stuff. I had a BA Hyper Dog recently and absolutely loved it. But when I asked about its availability at a Binny's just few hours after the release, they basically laughed me out the store.

It's pretty much been time to line up for most of their BA stuff for a while now. If you're not a FWB, it's pretty tough getting a hold of these badboys.

On the other hand, you can copy and paste most of my first sentence for almost every big-name BA beer that hits Chicago, now. Surly, 4Hands, GI, FW, FFF, etc., it all flies off the shelves now. Great time to be a beer drinker, tough time to find limited releases!

IMO (as a FWB), I wasn't a biggest fan of the original BA releases (12oz). I found many of the early attempts to be way too hot, and the recipes didn't hold up as well to barrel aging. Its really the been the past couple of releases where they have started nailing their barrel program. I have yet to open any of the most recent release yet, but the last release of The Jones Dog was amazing. Granted, I let mine age for a year to kill off some of the heat, and it was well worth it. I need to open my Hyper Dog and EOD soon as I heard they are not hot out of the gate. Which is how I prefer my BA beers.

The BA Jones Dog from last year (the one that won FOBAB 2014) was aged in crazy old HH barrels I believe (maybe the same as new rare?). That is why it was so awesome in comparison. As for the 2013 releases, I've had them fresh and with a couple years on them and recommend that you drink them soon. I don't think age will add anything to them.

Thanks for the input on the 12 oz'ers from 2013. Maybe I'll use some of them as backups when I pop open my BCBCS from this year and it is infected. :grimacing:

I haven't heard anything in what seems like a couple years, but I thought PW was planning a taproom or growler filling/retail location. IMO this is so desperately overdue.

On one hand, this would be awesome to happen ASAP. On the other hand, I'm worried about how much I'd want to go there and spend money.

Should have a BA pre-opening party if/when they do open!

Well, I feel a bit like a dick. After bitching earlier in the day, I just scored (via trade) this year's BA The Hyper Dog and BA The Jones Dog. Definitely among best beers I posses.

I will be in Chicago on Saturday.. which Binny's should I go to to get the best Pipeworks? Im from southern Indiana so I dont get their beers.

Last time I was in chicago I bought:

    Amarillo
    Reaper vs. Unicorn
    War Bird
    Lizard King

What are the best ones that are released now that I need to look for?

Lincoln Park Binny's is the biggest and would likely provide you with the biggest variety to choose from. As for which ones to pick up, that will depend on what they have at the time but if you haven't tried Ninja vs. Unicorn that's worth picking up. They will very likely have that available.

If you want Spotted Puffer there is still some kicking around in the burbs. Not sure what the city is like, but I could probably pick up half a case by me right now, so I like your chances at smaller stores or a Binnys that got an arse ton of it. Probably best to call around though as it has been out since Christmas.

The latest to be canned is Lizard King and Ninja v Unicorn, which are both worth picking up. "Hello..." is an imperial porter with smoked malt (not my thing, so haven't tried it) and that came out this week too - should be around next week for sure.
