Good morning BAs! Yesterday was so nice that I brewed a coffee stout side! Today, however, looks like I'll be consuming more than I make. Today's breakfast beer:

I'm generally not a fan of spiced or squash-based beers, but this is pretty good! Now I know what to do with some of the tons of butternut squash I froze last fall!

It's super early here, having a little trouble sleeping, so I figured I would check out my favorite site, see what's up. This was from late last night... or is it earlier this morning... whatever. Went on a nice hike today to the Pali Lookout. Tried going to the Pali Puka, but I'm not one for heights in some situations, this was one of them. 1,000ft straight drop with nothing for safety... no thanks! So I took an easier route down the old high highway, which is "off limits", but much safer. Oh yeah, this was my reward, something a friend brought back with him that we can't get here. Perfectly named for the trek earlier.

You didn't think I was going to post w/o lots of pics did you? Here's some from the beginning, where I decided to turn around, because it was a bit more than I was ready for (call me what you want, I don't give a sh!t). That top of that cliff to your immediate left is a good 1/4 mile away, to give you an idea. You can't see the ground in my pic, cause my phone's angle isn't that long. Easily over 1,000ft sheer drop. Beautiful though

Oh yeah, I should mention, this is a historically significant site too. When King Kamehameha I was fighting to unify the islands, this was the site of one of this greatest and bloodiest battles in 1795. Kalanikūpule and his army were driven off the side of the cliff to their deaths, hundreds to thousands of them. In fact, this particular battle was called Kalelekaʻanae, which means leaping mullet. In the late 1800's, during the development of the highway down the mountain, workers found 800 human skulls, which were from the fallen warriors. The story of King Kamehameha I is an awesome one, for anyone that loves history. Anyway, more pics this is from the old highway, you can see the top of the cliff in the first pic to get an idea

Happy Friday - and weekend - geeks. Sipping this wonderful beast while deciding what to do this weekend. It's a coin toss between Asheville and Athens GA (one of my favorite college towns - bars everywhere). Whatever I do, I'll keep you all posted. I know how you worry. Cheers!!!

As usual, I'm a few hours late posting, so this is a "what beer were you drinking last night?" post.

This is a homebrew: it's a honey wheat persimmon ale 100% fermented with brett b. It now has about 11 months' age on it and is a nicely complex brew and is roughly 7% ABV. I'm saving most of this batch to blend with something really sour I"m planning on making this year.

Mmmm like Pepperidge Farm, always as good as you remember. Great stout, best beer Brooklyn makes.
