Hey, brother, generally anything you find directly downtown Tampa as well as in the Westshore Business District (generally south, SW and west of the airport: an area that includes Sail Port) will be OK. I'd avoid anything too far north or east of downtown Tampa because it gets sketchy. That area includes out toward the Hard Rock Casino and (somewhat sadly) near Busch Gardens/USF. BM if you have specific questions; happy to help you out!

Splitsville, (as in bowling), is right there, as well.

You can also take the family to a game.

The Channelside Cinemas closed. Closest movie theaters for new-run films are Muvico Ybor, which you could take a trolley to.

If you plan to stay downtown, the Westin Harbour Island, Marriott Waterside, Aloft Tampa Downtown, and Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk all have water views. Embassy Suites Downtown Convention Center and Hilton Tampa Downtown are also nice. Residence Inn Tampa Downtown and Courtyard Tampa Downtown are nearby too.

Aquarium is close and the Lowry Park Zoo isn't a very far drive if you have access to a car. Tampa's zoo is very good. Good weather for Busch Gardens as well.

Hey there Florida beer geeks, I'm coming down to this Huna Day. This is my first time down there so looking to see if there are going to be any bottle shares around the event (either before or after). It is my understanding that bottle shares won't be allowed in the event.

Also - any advice on where to stay would be appreciated!

I don't think it has been mentioned yet, but everyone can take their Huna Day buzz (maybe after a nap) over to the Gasparilla Music Festival, which is taking place the same weekend at Curtis Hixon Park in downtown Tampa and is walking distance from Hunahpu Day. http://gasparillamusic.com/

They haven't announced the lineup yet but there's always some decent acts (last year was Modest Mouse, Gogol Bordello, Gaslight Anthem; 2014 had The Flaming Lips, Anders Osborne, Trombone Shorty, Jason Isbell, etc), tons of food vendors, and it's just a generally good time.

Stay downtown if you can. There are plenty of hotels close to the event.

I'm sure if you stay downtown there will be people at your hotel sharing bottles.

I second all of the above, there will be plenty of shares setup as we get closer and people know what is happening for tampa bay beer week at each of the breweries. The Gasparilla music fest is an awesome venue, whether you like the music or not. Even if you don't have tickets you can wander around that area and hear some music. For those traveling down to the Tampa area, this is probably the best time of year to be in town. Might actually set unfair expectations for other visits. It's also the middle of spring training as well. So if you are booking a hotel I'd look soon as the events pile up, the city will start to get packed.

The Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is that weekend as well. Not sure how much it affects Tampa though.

It may disrupt the traffic in and around downtown St Pete, as in Cycle.

Got an Airbnb near the Hyde Park area in Tampa about a mile and a half from the fest. How much is an uber ride to Cycle/St. Pete from that area? Trying to figure out if it makes more sense to just rent a car for 3 days to have the ability to go all over during the day to bottle shops and any bottle releases or if ubering/lyft the whole time makes more sense.

Get a car..Bay Area is very spread out....long way from Downtown Tampa to St Pete...plus it makes it much easier to get to the great breweries that are not close to one another at all like CCB...7th Sun...Rapp..Cycle and others

The wife and I are staying at the airport Hilton and getting a car to hit up a Phillies game, Bern's, and Cycle.

Have people been following the breweries list? They added de Garde today, which I am pumped for.
