The twin cities got a few tappings last year. There still might be some at Tilia, but I'd call first.

MGM Calhoun still has 2015 Regular Abyss left, you just need to ask for it at the front desk. France 44 also has Sue cans, didn't check the date.

Plenty of Brett Mikkel's at both. 2 limit at France 44, 1 limit at MGM Calhoun.

No abyss varients downtown. Sounds like they won't be seeing any

 

Anyone confirm any abyss variants? Lots of confusion on behalf of shop owners thinking it's just regular abyss and they are sold out.

 

only note i have gotten was from the sales rep for the maple grove area (haskells). spoke to him while he was in the store. said shipment was late and they should hit next week.

 

I haven't heard of any Abyss variants yet. Anyone seen any Steel Toe Size 11 at stores? I'd think this would be popping up around town any day now.

 

I think on twitter they said this was headed to the distributors today. So maybe tomorrow?

 

Anyone had Size 11 yet this year? I remember not particularly caring for the 2015 batch, wondering if it's closer to that or more like previous batches.

 

I assumed people haven't had a chance to try it yet, since the taproom doesn't open for the week until Wednesday, but looking on Untappd, there are a lot of checkins and looks like they had bottle sales on 11/11 as well.
Per their twitter, the beer was "released" on 11/11, to fit the size 11 theme.

comments on Untappd range from "not that bitter for a TIPA" to "tropical mixed with piney bitterness and alcohol heat" to "Malty like previous years but a bolder hop presence this year". Sounds like people are getting more tropical notes than in the past, which is a plus for me.

Appears that it is/was on tap at Dark Horse as of Monday.

Is the taproom now open all week, after the remodel? I haven't been there for awhile.

 

I loved previous years, so I've got big hopes.

 

4.25/5. Bottle picked up 1/12 at taproom . Tropical up front with some lingering bitterness and an alcohol burn. The alcohol burn was a little much IMO Worth a try for sure.

 

Yup the taproom is open 7 days a week now I believe. I tried size 11 on tap there yesterday and I liked it quite a bit more than last year. I felt last years was pretty boozy where as I don't get as much of that from this years batch.

 

Deschutes tweeted a couple days ago that the variants would go on sale at their taproom on January 15. I'd guess we will see them shortly thereafter.

 

I really enjoyed last years size 11, guess I like boozy beers Looking forward to this years version which sounds like it has some added citrus notes.

 

Apple Valley #3 has it as of this AM.
