I'm going to drink something from The Bruery tonight to celebrate my hoarding. The irony is rich!

What portion of your membership for an HJ? A BJ? Ok, how about a ZJ?

Got an invite, haven't really purchased much this year though. Maybe it's cause I've been in every year?

Doubt I will be joining though, just way too much money up front and I've scaled beer purchases way back.

I'm able to log in. Ack - everything my wife has been telling me about my "hobby" is being validated.

    1) how much you spent is irrelevant, it is how much you spent compare to others.
    2) Didn't you say you could log in? Meaning you are invited? The letters just got sent out, you should get one, or your trustee or whatever address you used.

i'm not invited to be a hoarder... but then again, this is my first year in the society and i know i don't spend as much as other members do... i'm just happy seeing what is going to be offered to the regular society members next year... i'm renewing my non-hoarder membership...

Oh no, this thread is now going to clog up the Pacific forum more than the 5 on Alpine.

Yes, I can log in. I made this thread before it was brought forth that if you can log in, you're inivited. The initial (incorrect) assumpution was that the invite was via email, which I had obviously not received. Ironically enough, not that long after I started this thread my co-worker called to tell me "You got a letter in the mail". :stuck_out_tongue:

I like that The Bruery has a sense of humor and isn't afraid to poke fun at itself, beer geek culture etc. . .

I thought the I like my beer served rare tshirt was funny. Hoarders society is too. Maybe if more people voice their sand in the vagina opinions about the name, they could change it to something even funnier, like hors d'oeuvres society (since we usually get food at a lot of the events, pretend like its all about the food (which hey, Beachwood Catering ain't nothing to sneeze at, yum).

My girlfriend (jokingly) thinks it should be called the "More Money Than Brains" society...:sunglasses:

What a silly rant, I just can't put my mind around your thoughts. Waaah, I wont spend $700 on a HS membership, so I will put down the society as much as I can. Exploitation? Really? You have a choice to purchase or not purchase. Where is the exploitation?

Wonder if this applies to trustees as well. Can't imagine why it wouldn't.

Much like with ISO:FT, I think people are showing that they take this scene a wee bit too seriously by taking offense at the name - the Bruery is clearly poking fun at both themselves and the beer geek community.

I can't say I'm not tempted by my invite, but there's no way I see myself dropping $700 on a membership. Despite some of the reaction here, I'm sure the Bruery is going to do just for itself with this endeavor, though.

I dont get it, so in other words, you were first, nobody else should be able to join? Who cares?

Truth be told, they have upped their brewing capacity and it makes more sense to brew expensive beers than it does to brew their less time and cost imposing beers.
