Posted this in mid-Atlantic first, so apologies if you saw this already... I will be in Atlanta at the end of May and was hoping someone could let me know what the beer scene is like. Are there any real good beer bars in the area? I will be staying at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. I will check out the places section of the site too. Thanks in advance.
Visited in the fall and hit up Brick Store Pub a few times. The Belgian bar is cool, but they only have a dozen or so taps at the main bar (although they are very good). The food is great for pub fare. Taco Mac has many more taps, but prob half are taken up by widespread national brands. Hop City was the best of the stores.
I was just down there and the Porter beer bar's bottle list was nutso. I had plans to go to decatur, but it didn't work out.
The Brick Store is a must. Make sure that you ask to see the Vintage bottle list. The Porter and Leon's Full Service are nice as well, but I've always felt the Brick Store is leaps and bounds better. As for stores - there are two - Hop City, and Green's on Ponce.
Use the search function on the site...there was one thread we all answered extensively at the beginning of these new forums. Probably no new threads will be that detailed again because we're not gonna answer the same question week after week. This is the 3rd one asking the same thing already that I've seen in the new forums. I don't mean to be a dick, I'm just saying there's a thread with more detailed answers if you wanna search.
If you really didn't mean to be a dick, you would have just pointed out that there was a more detailed thread on this topic from a couple of weeks ago, and then just left it at that. But instead, you had to be a dick
I have done that and the OP gets uptight about it so I gave up on being nice. It's a pet peeve of mine that people ask the same freaking question every other week when they could just do a search and find a more detailed thread because I'm not the only one fed up with the repetitive question so at least I answer that there's somewhere you can search and get a better answer since people aren't gonna answer this again and again and again. Most just don't answer anything and you don't know that there's a better thread because you obviously don't use the search function
You must getting real sick of all of these forums then, because I would say that about 70% of all posts that I see are questions that have been asked before (i.e., top 5 beers, is beer "X" better than Pliny, what's the most you've paid for a beer, etc). Maybe this site isn't for you, unless you just enjoy thread shitting....
I would hit Sweetwater if time allows (check their website of hours), any Taco Mac has a good selection, Brice Store as many have said. We were there a few months ago and also visited Greens on Ponce as has been said, The Wrecking Bar was very good, and we stumbled upon a small bar near the Fox Threater that had $3 drafts including Bell's Two Hearted, Southern Tier IPA and a few others...I cannot find the name of that bar anywhere.
